ports covered
Admiralty Information Overlay
Admiralty Vector Chart Service helps your crews to navigate safely and
standards and controls. The Admiralty Vector Chart Service now includes
the unique Admiralty Information Overlay – designed by the UKHO to
provide additional important navigation information to help keep you safe.

Admiralty Vector Chart Service
Navigate safely and stay compliant
More routes
Admiralty Vector Chart Service provides the widest official
coverage, allowing ships to navigate on ECDIS for most
major routes. Coverage includes the waters of Hong Kong,
Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam
and the Malacca Strait.
More ports
Admiralty Vector Chart Service also includes 2,950 of the
biggest and busiest ports worldwide, 200 of which are
unique to AVCS.
Carriage-compliant, 100% official ENCs
All ships using Admiralty Vector Chart Service on board
receive a UKHO certificate with the ship name and licence
expiry date. This confirms that all ENCs in Admiralty Vector
Chart Service satisfy the chart carriage requirements of
SOLAS Chapter V.
Ongoing safety and compliance
All Admiralty Vector Chart Service customers receive
weekly ENC updates on CD or DVD, via email or online.
Installing the latest ENC updates on a regular basis ensures
safe navigation and compliance with flag and port state
requirements.
You can choose how to purchase
For maximum convenience the Admiralty Vector Chart
Service can be ordered in predefined transit, regional
or port folios (groupings of ENCs). New ENCs are
automatically added to folio holdings as soon as they
become available, ensuring ships always have the latest data
within their chosen level of coverage. All ENCs within the
Admiralty Vector Chart Service can be bought on
an individual, chart-by-chart basis for precise coverage and
voyage flexibility. Simply buy the licences to unlock the
charts needed for a voyage – when and for as long
(3, 6, 9 or 12 months) as they are needed.
Admiralty Information Overlay –
unique extra navigational data
The Admiralty Information Overlay also includes the
worldwide Admiralty Temporary and Preliminary Notices
to Mariners (T&P NMs). If you are using ENCs right now
without AIO, you only have access to 40% of T&Ps. Other
HOs don’t provide them. There is evidence that this is
becoming an issue with some port state inspectors –
some ships have been cautioned because of their failure
to demonstrate that they have the full NM information
available for their ENC navigated voyage. This can easily be
overcome by using AVCS and AIO. Easy to use and clearly
displayed using a growing number of ECDIS, AIO can also be
viewed using Thomas Gunn Voyager 4.
Compatible with all type-approved
makes of ECDIS
Admiralty Vector Chart Service is delivered in industry
standard S-63 / S57 formats guaranteeing compatibility
with all type-approved ECDIS – even in a mixed fleet.
The Admiralty Vector Chart Service is the most
comprehensive, official digital chart service in the world;
with over 12,000 Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs)
from hydrographic offices around the world, packaged
and quality assured by the UKHO into a single
value-added service.
You can also add AVCS updates to your Voyager
