Engineering
Engineers are innovators, engineers are creative and engineers must find efficient and sustainable
solutions to some of the greatest challenges facing the world in the 21st century. The University’s
Engineering degree courses are exciting and up-to-date and are ranked highly by the professional
accrediting institutions. This mark of quality means that you will be taught by engineers who are well
known nationally and internationally in their discipline as successful researchers and practitioners.
This status gives the degree courses a leading edge emphasis and with the state-of-the-art
laboratories you will receive an ideal balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application.
A broad range of engineering degree courses are available with either civil, coastal, mechanical,
marine, electronics or robotics at their core.
University of Plymouth degrees
• BEng (Hons) Robotics
• The challenge for today’s electrical
and electronic engineers is to design
smarter devices and systems that
do more but use less energy. This
could be more efficient domestic
appliances and ‘smart’ houses,
‘drive by wire’ cars or more efficient
industrial utilities. The BEng (Hons)
Electrical and Electronic Engineering
degree course was recently reaccredited
by the Institution of
Engineering and Technology achieving
the maximum score of 32/32.
• Robotics development is moving
1,000 times faster than human
evolution. The impact on industrial
and home automation is significant
and this systems-based degree
course prepares the student for these
exciting and varied technologies.
The BEng (Hons) Robotics degree
course was recently re-accredited
by the Institution of Engineering
and Technology achieving the
maximum score of 32/32.
• The University of Plymouth is
the UK National Robot Football
Team Champion and frequently
sponsors its students to attend
matches all over the world!
