Biomedical Sciences<br />

The <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Plymouth</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers a choice <strong>of</strong> undergraduate degrees in Biomedical and Human<br />

Biosciences in a range <strong>of</strong> specialisations such as exercise, nutrition and health, and links with other<br />

subjects such as biology. The aim <strong>of</strong> all these programmes, which share key modules, is to produce<br />

graduates who can approach these rapidly developing fields in the broadest possible sense - from<br />

understanding the latest advances in molecular and cellular biology to considering the new ethical<br />

questions that these revolutionary techniques <strong>of</strong>ten raise.<br />

Medicine and Dentistry<br />

(www.pms.ac.uk), successful<br />

Biomedical Sciences graduates<br />

possess the relevant skills to gain<br />

employment in a range <strong>of</strong> careers<br />

including research and technical<br />

positions in public and industrial<br />

laboratories. Plus transferable skills<br />

obtained also prepare you for careers<br />

in management, education, medical<br />

writing, medical sales and commerce.<br />

• Many students choose to progress<br />

into postgraduate study or research<br />

(MSc/PhD), and a number <strong>of</strong> our<br />

graduates go on to study medicine.<br />

• The BSc (Hons) in Exercise, Nutrition<br />

and Health provides a progression<br />

route into an intensive one year<br />

MSc/PgDIP in Psychology resulting<br />

in eligibility for a Graduate Basis<br />

for Registration (GBR) with the<br />

British Psychology Society.<br />

The proposed FdSc/BSc (Hons) in<br />

Veterinary Bioscience is a programme<br />

dedicated to those areas <strong>of</strong> science that<br />

underpin veterinary medicine, providing<br />

the student with an understanding <strong>of</strong><br />

chemistry, biology and comparative<br />

biomedical sciences, as well as<br />

developing knowledge and expertise<br />

with pathological sciences. Plus the<br />

course, for exceptional students, may<br />

also provide a potential route into<br />
