First class accommodation
At PDIC we recognise the importance of safe and comfortable
accommodation. For many of our students the decision to study at
Plymouth will be the first time they have lived away from their family
and friends for a long period of time. For this reason we offer a
range of accommodation options so that all of our students feel that
they have ‘a home away from home’. This not only allows the student
to concentrate on his/her studies but also makes the experience of
living and learning in another country all the more enjoyable.
Homestay
For many students, the opportunity
to stay with a local family, off-campus
and in the community, offers a special
appeal. As a homestay student you will
have the chance to be a part of the
family, taking part in family activities
and celebrating special occasions. It is
also a great way for students to learn
about British culture whilst improving
their English at the same time.
Homestay normally includes two
meals a day (breakfast and dinner)
with flexibility to arrange three meals
a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
Homestay options can be tailored to
your needs and can include extras such
as a laundry service. On average, a
homestay will cost approximately £1,500
per semester (15 weeks maximum).
PDIC operates a referral service for those
students wishing to pursue the potential
option of a homestay. Many students
enjoy the homestay option as it provides
an opportunity to stay with a locally
approved family and join in with all that
home life in the UK has to offer. You will
be a part of family celebrations and have
an insight into British culture at the same
time as improving your English language.
Shared accommodation
Shared accommodation is difficult to
arrange from overseas. PDIC appreciates
this and offers a referral service to local
landlords so that you can plan your
accommodation arrangements before
your arrival should you wish to organise
this privately. PDIC student services will
be happy to facilitate communication
with local landlords. On average, shared
accommodation rent will range from
£40 to £70 per week depending on the
location and condition of the property.
PDIC accommodation services
Once you have accepted an offer to
study at Plymouth you may then wish
for PDIC support services to arrange
your accommodation where possible,
or facilitate referral to an appropriate
homestay or off-campus shared/private
accommodation provider. You will be able
to indicate your preference by completing
and returning the Accommodation Form
included with your Offer of Admission.
The Accommodation Form lists full
details of all options and, where possible,
prices available to new students.
Plymouth is a great place to live and
provides some of the least expensive
student accommodation in the UK!
