2 Select either Overall Budget Method or Loss/Length Method,<br />

then press Next. Continue by completing the steps in the matching<br />

section that follows.<br />

Overall Budget Method<br />

Overall Budget Method configures a fixed loss limit value for each<br />

applicable wavelength. If a multimo<strong>de</strong> SmartProbe is installed, you are<br />

asked to specify overall loss budgets for 850 nm and 1300 nm<br />

wavelengths. If a singlemo<strong>de</strong> SmartProbe is installed, you are asked to<br />

specify overall loss budgets for 1310 nm and 1550 nm wavelengths.<br />

When you select Overall Budget Method and press Next on the Loss<br />

Limit Setup screen, the screen changes to the following:<br />

1 To set the loss limit for a listed wavelength, press the wavelength<br />

field. The numeric keypad opens.<br />

2 Press the backspace arrow to erase the displayed value, then enter<br />

the new limit value. Press OK. The keypad closes.<br />

3 Press OK. The Fiber Autotest Settings screen displays.<br />
