Using Trace Mo<strong>de</strong><br />

2 To set the current power value as a reference, press Set Reference.<br />

The difference is shown in the Delta field. The actual measurement is<br />

shown in the Optical Power field.<br />

3 To write the current data table to the results database, press Save.<br />

4 To calibrate the Power Meter, press Calibrate.<br />

To turn on the Fiber SmartProbe’s transmitter:<br />

• On the Fiber Tools menu, press Trace Mo<strong>de</strong>. The FIber Trace<br />

Mo<strong>de</strong> screen displays and indicates that the transmitter is active.<br />

Learning the NVP of a Fiber<br />

To learn the NVP of a fiber cable sample:<br />

1 Connect a known length sample of the fiber to the Fiber SmartProbe.<br />

The sample must be at least 50 feet (15 meters) long.<br />

2 On the Fiber Tools menu, press Learn Fiber NVP. The Learn Fiber<br />

NVP screen displays. Use the Quick Setup to help configure the cable<br />

for single en<strong>de</strong>d or double en<strong>de</strong>d test configuration and to provi<strong>de</strong><br />

fiber construction <strong>de</strong>tails prior to the test. You may need to calibrate<br />

using the test jumper <strong>de</strong>pending on which test configuration you<br />
