Jamaica Gypsum & Quarries Limited, a wholly
owned subsidiary, was acquired from the
National Investment Bank of Jamaica in 1990
as part of the Company’s strategy to control its
major sources of raw material. JGQ is one of the
main producers of gypsum and anhydrite in the
region and most of its products are exported to
markets in South America and the Caribbean.

In 1992, Rockfort Mineral Bath Complex Limited
was incorporated, as a wholly owned subsidiary
of Caribbean Cement Company Limited (CCCL),
to restore the historical site and operate the spa
as one of the Company’s community outreach
programmes. The site is a national monument
under the aegis of the Jamaica National Heritage
Trust. In the year 2000, the facilities were sublet
to a third party as a part of CCCL’s restructuring
process aimed at focusing on its core business.
The operations continued on this basis
throughout the year 2004.

At Carib Cement’s Awards
Ceremony held on January 22,
2004, a number of employees
were recognized in respect of
their performance and their
years of valuable service.
Employees who had attained
high levels of excellence in
their performance and were
outstanding in their areas of
work were nominated for the
General Manager’s Awards.
They were all winners in
their own right however, Mrs.
Janet Brooks a Purchasing
Officer from the Purchasing
Department copped the
General Manager’s Award for
the Employee of the Year.
The Company commends and
congratulates its present and
past personnel who together,
over the last 52 years, have
contributed to its growth and
participated in its objective of
“Building Jamaica.”

Caribbean Gypsum Company’s major asset is
its 167 acres of gypsum/anhydrite quarry lands
which considerably enhance the reserves of raw
material available to the CCCL Group. There is
no quarrying or trading at this time.
