HRD studies and conduct of necessary additional assessment of tourism employment and<br />

training needs.<br />

It is also recommended that the TTMP focuses on the following issues:<br />

a) Revision of tender and lease procedures for resort islands;<br />

b) Ensure a more even development of tourist resorts and facilities to avoid<br />

unnecessary pressure on available capital, human and marketing resources;<br />

c) Reduction of the proportion of package tourists and dependency on charter<br />

flights;<br />

d) The7th National Development Plan should make provision for increased intersectoral<br />

linkages to enhance poverty reduction and further economic<br />

development;<br />

e) Incorporation of benchmark targets for increasing employment of Maldivians<br />

in the sector.<br />
