2013 APES Summer Assignment
Hello,
AP Environmental Science students have an easy and fun summer assignment.
Part 1:
Check out an AP Environmental Science (APES) textbook from the West Ranch library.
This assignment couldn’t be easier and is worth 100 points. Here are the days/hours the Library
Staff will be able to check out materials.
June 4:
June 5-7:
June 11-13, 18-20, 25-27
( 8:00-11:00 am ) Library closed for district meeting afternoon
( 8:30-11:00 am / 12:30-2:00 pm)
(9:00-11:00 am/ 1:00-2:00 pm)
Students will need their ID card for all check outs, damage report will need to be returned for materials
All accounts (overdues, fines, lost books must be paid)
Parents will need an picture ID if checking out for their student.
If necessary, books can be checked out by appointment (222-1220 x132)
Part 2:
• Attend a workshop at the Castaic Lake Water Agency for APES Students.
• Worth 300 points.
• Required.
• See attached handout for dates and times.
• The first of 3 fieldtrips for the course!
Directions to Castaic Lake Water Agency:
• Go East on Valencia Blvd.
• Turn Left onto Bouquet Canyon Rd.
• Turn right into Central Park.
• Make and immediate left onto the road for CLWA.
• Tell the guard that you are there for the workshop.
• Take the road all the way to the top of the hill and follow the signs for visitor parking.
These 2 assignments will get you off to a great start in APES! I hope you enjoy CLWA, it
is a fabulous program just for you. See you in August!

Castaic Lake water Agency is pleased to learn that you have included AP Environmental Science in your
class schedule for the upcoming year.
We understand that class selections do not always become available but we are informing you of a field
trip that your Environmental Science teacher is endorsing.
There are summer workshops held at the Castaic Lake Water Agency above Central Park. These classes
last 1 ½ to 2 hours and are available on the following 2013 calendar dates and times.

For each of these dates there is a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 25 students per workshop. It is in
your interest to sign up soon as classes will be cancelled if the minimum number is not met.
