SOCKETS
Under-patellar
support
The top edge of the socket covers at the front the lower half
of the femoral condyles, while the top edge of the back wall
is in line with the knee joint. The stump rests on this type of
socket mainly:
• on the under-patellar area with depression of the socket
at this point
• on the stabilizing thrust at the centre of the rear wall
• on the entire surface of the stump, especially on the
soft parts, freeing the bone protrusions and tendons of
pressure.
This socket is for patients with a low level of activity.

Grip on the
condyles
The front wall of the socket is level with the line of the knee
joint and is well supported by the patellar tendon.
The stump is held by two condyloid joints moulded on the
femoral condyles that also ensure lateral stability. There is
under-patellar support and a stabilizing counter-thrust in the
popliteus.
This socket is for patients who have short stumps or a high
level of activity.

This temporary socket is the evolution of the socket with
under-patellar support and has the same key principles. It is
softer in form, however, and the thrust is less invasive.
The stump is held by a silicone liner connected to the socket
by means of a pin or thread system.
It is for all types of stump.
