November 30: Tevye (with Maurice Schwartz) Long before there was Fiddler, Tevye was the original story, without the music. This is an adaptation of Sholem Aleichem’s classic story. December 14: Mirele Efros This film is the study of Family relationships, particularly between a mother and daughter-in-law. (Jewish Queen Lear) I’m glad she’s not in my family! December 28: Where is My Child - Oy Vey! What tzooris this is about! She gives up her child for adoption, and spends her life looking for him! Taken from the pages of the Forwards. January 11: Yiddle Mitn Fiddle - Start the New Year with the most delightful Yiddish film ever made! A 1936 musical with Milly Picon who plays a young woman who poses as a man in order to join a band of musicians traveling the Polish countryside. Films are in black & white with English subtitles.
