players, including five Senior starters: Jackie Lebau, Shira Ness, Helaine Wilkowsky,
Tara Danels and Atara Vogelstein. Coach Sonya Howell says that this a very
experienced team with a great supporting cast of young talented players, and the
The Heschel Heat Girls Varsity team may be small in numbers, but they make up
for it with their play on the court. Following two seasons with trips to the finals and
semi-finals, respectively, they are looking to surpass any past performance. Their two
veteran Seniors lead the squad. Charlotte Marx-Arpadi makes her presence felt in the
front court, while Mia Applebaum shores up the back court. The Juniors fill out the
squad and have invigorated this team with their energy and work ethic. Coach Stacy
Hollander is excited to return to Beth Tfiloh where she played and coached. The Heat
Girls hope to bring their A-game to Baltimore and look forward to a fun and exciting
weekend!

The Lady Tigers return with enthusiasm to the Beth Tfiloh Weiner Tournament for
the third straight year. The team is coming off a winning season with last year’s junior
varsity team going undefeated. With head new coach Marc Levinson and high
expectations, we see good things from the team this year. Like the boys team, the Lady
Tigers compete in the Chicago Prep League. While it is a young squad overall, the
team has great leaders in its seniors Shelby Cooper and Alison Dreifuss. Look for this
to be a breakout year for hard-working junior forward Naomi Michael and the very
talented sophomore guard Alana Stoehr. Sophomore forwards Caroline Dreifuss and
Annie Schrayer came on strong at the end of last season, and their play has picked up
already quite a bit this season. The Lady Tigers look forward to their return to Baltimore
and to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

Schwartz, and great new additions, Nicole Drutz, Rachel Benezrah, Zoey Freedman, Madeleine
Gottesman, Zoey Katz, Aleeza Yermus, and Sydnee Silverberg, they have worked very hard
together, and have had a successful season thus far with a 4-2 record. With noticeable
improvements both offensively and defensively, the Tigers pride themselves on going hard for
all four quarters, and always come off the court feeling as though they have given it their best.
The team is looking forward to an exciting and memorable Weiner Tournament. GO TIGERS!

The HAFTR Lady Hawks are coming off a tremendous 2009-
2010. The team went undefeated during the regular MYHSL
season but came up a little short, losing to SAR in the league
championship game. This year's squad is returning seven players
from that team, including three members who started last year.
The Lady Hawks as always will rely on tough defense to help
power them to easy fast break opportunities.

Fresh off an appearance in last season’s conference title game, the Warriors are
hungry to make this season an even better one. Coached by Brian Hubbard, Melvin
Bridges, Eli Creeger, and student assistant Eli Katz, BT will rely on aggressive defense
and an abundance of quickness. Returning starters Tani Weissman and Adam Venick
will lead the way on offense, while fellow Seniors Josh Flax, Eli Plaut, and AJ Hurwitz
will also be counted on for big things. There are also a number of players moving up
from the JV ready to make a splash on the Varsity level. The Warriors are excited to
take the court in this year’s Weiner Tournament!

the Heschel Heat have high hopes for this season. After a rough start, the Heat seem to
be headed in the right direction. Led by a plethora of talented seniors, Heschel is
characterized by their tough defense. After a difficult loss in the Yeshiva League
Championship game last season, the Heat are motivated to get back there and win their
first Varsity Basketball championship in school history.

The boys’ basketball team looks to have another winning season. The team was
the Illinois High School Association regional champions last year—the first Jewish high
school to accomplish this. The team returns all but one starter, and has a strong group
of seniors: Aaron “LC” Cohn, Adam Seidenberg, Zach Spellman, Danny Stamos, Kevin
Rahmanim, and Paz Abergel. Junior Sam “The Gentle Giant” Botbol gives the team a
strong presence at center, while newcomer sophomore Jake Newlander is dangerous
from all areas of the court. Juniors Jeff Budweg, Noah Chasin, Adam Schrag, and Max
Geifman round out the squad.
Veteran coach Saul Shaoul returns for his fifth season as head coach. The team
joined the prestigious Chicago Prep League this year and faces tough competition both
in and out of conference. The team is a past participant in the Sarachek and Memphis
tournaments and really looks forward to joining the CJHS girls team in Baltimore.

The CHAT Tigers are coming to Baltimore with an aggressive mentality,
planning to attack their opponents with quick and ferocious offense and
defense. With the legendary coaching of the one and only Aubrey Zimmerman,
this team should perform plays with textbook execution. The Tigers have many
returning members from last year’s senior team such as Adam “9 foot 3”
Halpern, Josh “Dougie” Tayar, Ori “Tea n Crumpets” Ohayon and Misha
“Herschdog” Herschorn, as well as many new seniors like Brad “Jacked” Lastman,
Russel “The Tank” Handelman, Jonah “Oshe” Osher and Nate Weisbr”o”od,
“Captain Awesome and Mr. Fabulous” AKA Tyler Smith and Lawrence Stefaniu, as
well as two new senior managers: Adam “Singer” Singer and Michael “Zig-Zag”
Zagdanski. Coming in from the junior team are none other than Arie “Rook”
Cote, Ryan “Coco” Cohen, Simon “Oliver” Axelrod and Noah “Clown” Walters. All
of these representatives of The Anne and Max Tanenbaum Community Hebrew
Academy of Toronto Wallenberg Campus will definitely provide for some
serious competition in the tournament and will hopefully take home the gold.
