Summing Up<br />
• MBUSD GATE students are scoring at the<br />
advanced level in ELA.<br />
• MBUSD GATE students greatly outperformed CA<br />
GATE students in ELA. In fact, MBUSD All is more<br />
similar to CA GATE.<br />
• MBUSD GATE students showed a much higher<br />
percentage scoring advanced than MBUSD All in CST<br />
math.<br />
• MBUSD GATE clearly exceeded the scores in math<br />
for CA GATE in grades 4-7. MBUSD All is more<br />
comparable to CA GATE in grades 4-6.
Summing Up<br />
• The gap between MBUSD GATE and CA<br />
GATE widens when comparing scores in<br />
Algebra 1, 2, Geometry and Summative Math.<br />
• MBUSD GATE students scored 98% advanced on the<br />
CST science test in grade 8 and 97% and 94%<br />
advanced in grades 5 and 10, respectively—far<br />
outperforming CA GATE and MBUSD All.<br />
• MBUSD GATE students strongly exceeded the scores<br />
for CA GATE for the biology and chemistry end-ofcourse<br />
tests and the history-social science end-ofcourse<br />
tests.<br />
• Students we identify as gifted and talented are<br />
performing exceptionally well on STAR CST tests.
Next Steps<br />
• Share GATE STAR data with principals and GATE cluster<br />
teachers.<br />
• Continue to train teachers and administrators on the Illuminate<br />
data disaggregating program.<br />
• Implement Illuminate and dig deeper into the STAR data to<br />
determine additional patterns for GATE students.<br />
• Determine whether Illuminate will allow us to compare MBUSD<br />
GATE students to non-GATE students on STAR CST tests.
