<strong>Track</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Field</strong> <strong>Event</strong> ‐ <strong>Volunteer</strong> <strong>Job</strong> <strong>Descriptions</strong><br />
All volunteers please arrive at 7:45 am to attend the volunteer orientation <strong>and</strong> to ensure stations are set‐up<br />
<strong>and</strong> ready to go for 8:45 am.<br />
Announcer<br />
‐ Clear voice to announce races <strong>and</strong> advertisements<br />
‐ Creative <strong>and</strong> entertaining messages to the audience<br />
Gate attendant<br />
‐ Receive cash <strong>and</strong> apply b<strong>and</strong> for entry<br />
‐ Check in volunteers <strong>and</strong> instruct them to booth<br />
‐ Instruct coaches to booth for packages<br />
Booth Clerk<br />
‐ H<strong>and</strong>s out track <strong>and</strong> field package only if it is confirmed that the team has paid their fees<br />
‐ H<strong>and</strong>le enquiries about events <strong>and</strong> finishing places<br />
‐ Post event results on the wall<br />
Check‐in Clerk (<strong>Track</strong> Only)<br />
‐ Highlight the name of the athlete <strong>and</strong> let them through to the benches to be given their lane<br />
assignments – you will not be able to give them their lane assignments before h<strong>and</strong><br />
‐ Ensure that the bib # <strong>and</strong> the athlete name matches<br />
‐ Athlete check‐in after the 1 st call ‐ no check in 15 mins after the 2 nd call<br />
Lane Assignments Clerk<br />
‐ After the 2 nd call for the event, arrange athletes into heats; try to separate athletes from the same<br />
church in different heats. Assignments are r<strong>and</strong>om<br />
‐ Give each athlete their lane assignment sticker <strong>and</strong> tell them to stick in on the front of their left leg<br />
‐ Walk the athletes to the marshalling area in their correct order <strong>and</strong> have them sit on the benches<br />
also in the correct order<br />
‐ H<strong>and</strong> lane assignments to Marshall
Finish Line Clerk<br />
‐ Record the finishing time <strong>and</strong> athlete bib number of the assigned lane<br />
‐ Ensure that athletes walk back in their lanes without crossing the finish line<br />
‐ Do not record their position in the race<br />
Marshall<br />
‐ Ensure athletes are lined up in correct positions<br />
‐ Walk athletes to starting line in correct positions<br />
‐ Confirm lane assignments at the starting line<br />
Runners<br />
‐ Bring athletes from the starting line to the finishing line<br />
‐ Bring empty baskets back to the starting line<br />
‐ Bring sheets from the track to the booth<br />
<strong>Field</strong> <strong>Event</strong>s<br />
‐ Measure <strong>and</strong> record distances as per instruction from the event director<br />
‐ Check‐in athletes – take note if they have to go to a track event before participating their field<br />
event (track takes precedence)<br />
Award / Medals Clerks<br />
‐ Ensure that all medals are prepare for distribution<br />
‐ Present medals / ribbons to athletes<br />
Photographer<br />
‐ Capture pictures of athletes in each events<br />
‐ Capture pictures outside of the track field such as spectators, officials <strong>and</strong> hospitality<br />
First Aid<br />
‐ Knowledge of Airway, Breathing, Circulation (ABC)<br />
‐ Provide basic first aid<br />
‐ Attend to athlete that are injured or requires first aid<br />
‐ At the site at all times
