<strong>The</strong> Chief Executive of the LSC had delegated authority to approve write-off of cash losses with an item value of up to<br />

£10,000 <strong>and</strong> subject to a limit of £250,000 in any one year. <strong>The</strong> LSC requested BIS <strong>and</strong> HM Treasury approval to write off<br />

the cases above, within their respective delegated authorities as summarised below:<br />

23a Special payments<br />

Payments totalling £3.9 million relating to the buy-out of staff benefits of those staff transferring to local authorities were<br />

made in March 2010 at the request of the DCSF (see note 5a). Subsequently, 745 LSC staff transferred to local authority<br />

employment.<br />

24 Events after the reporting period<br />

As a consequence of Machinery of Government changes, the LSC closed on 31 March 2010, but its functions <strong>and</strong><br />

responsibilities transferred to other organisations on 1 April 2010 (see note 16).<br />

<strong>The</strong> accounts were authorised <strong>for</strong> issue by the Accounting Officer on 22 July 2010. Events after that date have not<br />

been considered.<br />
