5.10.3 Selecting the purpose of the control connector

The setting of the ctrlPortProtocol attribute depends on what you connect to
the control connector of the Crocus SHDSL G703. This is explained in the following table:

Select this value if you want to connect the control connector of the Crocus SHDSL
G703 to …·
• a management concentrator (e.g. the Orchid 1003 LAN or 1035 Orchid) for
management purposes.·
• the control connector of another OneAccess device using a crossed cable (i.e.
back-to-back) in order to create an extended management link. For more information
on extended management links, refer to Relative addressing on
page 101 and Forwarding management information on page 103).
When connecting the control connector of the Crocus SHDSL G703 to a COM port
of your computer, you can still open a TMA session on the Crocus SHDSL G703.
However, you can not open a CLI or ATWIN session
Select this value if you want to connect the control connector of the Crocus SHDSL
G703 to a COM port of your computer in order to manage the Crocus SHDSL G703
locally using TMA, CLI or ATWIN.
