<strong>Steven</strong> J. <strong>Morris</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>Resign</strong> <strong>As</strong> <strong>CEO</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>President</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong> <strong>Jewish</strong> Federation <strong>of</strong> San Diego County - Interim <strong>CEO</strong> Announced<br />
Dear Community Member, March 23, 2012<br />
I am writing <strong>to</strong> inform you that <strong>Steven</strong> J. <strong>Morris</strong>, <strong>President</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>CEO</strong> <strong>of</strong> Federation, has tendered his<br />
resignation effective March 30, 2012.<br />
I am pleased <strong>to</strong> report <strong>to</strong> you that the Board <strong>of</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>rs has appointed Michael Sonduck as Interim<br />
<strong>President</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>CEO</strong> effective immediately. <strong>As</strong> many <strong>of</strong> you already know, Michael has been Federation's<br />
chief operating <strong>of</strong>ficer since September 2006. In that capacity he has worked closely with our Board <strong>and</strong><br />
staff as well as most <strong>of</strong> our community partners. <strong>The</strong> Board's unanimous decision reflects our confidence<br />
that Michael will provide the interim pr<strong>of</strong>essional leadership Federation needs during this transition. I know<br />
you will join me in thanking Michael for accepting this responsibility.<br />
Regarding his resignation <strong>Morris</strong> said, "It has been an honor <strong>and</strong> a privilege for me <strong>to</strong> work at Federation.<br />
My passion <strong>and</strong> commitment <strong>to</strong> our work throughout the community, in Israel, <strong>and</strong> throughout the world is<br />
as strong as ever. <strong>The</strong> leadership <strong>and</strong> staff at Federation are outst<strong>and</strong>ing <strong>and</strong> I know that they will continue<br />
<strong>to</strong> build on the accomplishments we have achieved during my tenure here."<br />
Steve will continue <strong>to</strong> provide assistance with the transition through April 30, <strong>and</strong> we wish him luck in his<br />
future endeavors.<br />
Simultaneously, <strong>The</strong>resa Dupuis <strong>and</strong> Brian Tauber, both long-serving members <strong>of</strong> the Federation Board,<br />
have agreed <strong>to</strong> co-chair the Search Committee <strong>to</strong> secure the services <strong>of</strong> a new <strong>President</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>CEO</strong> for<br />
Federation. <strong>As</strong> soon as the committee is fully formed <strong>and</strong> has undertaken its preliminary work we will report<br />
<strong>to</strong> you again.<br />
With the support <strong>of</strong> our Board <strong>of</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>rs <strong>and</strong> community leaders I trust that we will successfully manage<br />
