<strong>The</strong> card for I Musei di Piazza San Marco,<br />

costing e12 (e6.50 for ages 6–14, students<br />

under 30, EU citizens over 65 & Rolling<br />

<strong>Venice</strong> Card holders), allows you <strong>to</strong> visit<br />

<strong>the</strong> Palazzo Ducale, Museo Correr, Museo<br />

Archeologico <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Biblioteca Marciana.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Museum Pass, costing e18/e12, covers<br />

all <strong>the</strong> museums listed above, plus Ca’<br />

Rezzonico, Casa Goldoni, Palazzo Mocenigo,<br />

Museo Fortuny, Ca’ Pésaro (<strong>the</strong> modern<br />

art <strong>and</strong> oriental museums), <strong>the</strong> Museo del<br />

Merlet<strong>to</strong> (Burano) <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Museo del Vetro<br />

(Murano). Passes are valid for six months,<br />

allow one visit <strong>to</strong> each attraction, <strong>and</strong> are<br />

available from any of <strong>the</strong> participating museums.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Musei di Piazza San Marco can<br />

only be visited with a card; at <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r places<br />

you have <strong>the</strong> option of paying an entry<br />

charge just for that attraction. <strong>The</strong> website<br />

for information on all <strong>the</strong> civic museums, <strong>and</strong><br />

for online ticket booking, is wwww.museiciviciveneziani.it.<br />

Note also <strong>the</strong> orange version<br />

of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Venice</strong> Card (see p.37) covers all of<br />

<strong>the</strong> museums covered by <strong>the</strong> Museum Pass,<br />

<strong>and</strong> that accompanied disabled people have<br />

free access <strong>to</strong> all of <strong>the</strong>se museums. <strong>The</strong>re<br />

is also a combined ticket for <strong>the</strong> city’s state<br />

museums (<strong>the</strong> Accademia, Ca’ d’Oro <strong>and</strong><br />

Museo Orientale), costing e11/5.50.<br />

Sixteen churches are now part of <strong>the</strong> everexp<strong>and</strong>ing<br />

Chorus Pass scheme (wwww.<br />

chorusvenezia.org), whereby an e8 ticket<br />

allows one visit <strong>to</strong> each of <strong>the</strong> churches<br />

over a one-year period. All of <strong>the</strong> proceeds<br />

from <strong>the</strong> scheme are ploughed back in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

maintenance of <strong>the</strong> buildings. <strong>The</strong> individual<br />

entrance fee at each of <strong>the</strong> participating<br />

churches is e2.50, <strong>and</strong> all <strong>the</strong> churches<br />

(except for <strong>the</strong> Frari) observe <strong>the</strong> same<br />

opening hours: Monday <strong>to</strong> Saturday 10am<br />

<strong>to</strong> 5pm. <strong>The</strong> churches involved are: <strong>the</strong><br />

Frari (Mon–Sat 9am–6pm, Sun 1–6pm); <strong>the</strong><br />

Gesuati; Madonna dell’Or<strong>to</strong>; <strong>the</strong> Reden<strong>to</strong>re;<br />

San Giacomo dell’Orio; San Giobbe; San<br />

Giovanni Elemosinario; San Pietro di Castello;<br />

San Polo; San Sebastiano; San Stae;<br />

Sant’Alvise; Santa Maria dei Miracoli; Santa<br />

Maria del Giglio; Santa Maria Formosa; <strong>and</strong><br />

San<strong>to</strong> Stefano. <strong>The</strong> Chorus Pass is available<br />

at each of <strong>the</strong>se churches; <strong>the</strong> orange <strong>Venice</strong><br />

Card gives free admission <strong>to</strong> all of <strong>the</strong>m.<br />

<strong>The</strong> opening hours listed below are <strong>the</strong><br />

latest available times of <strong>the</strong> major <strong>to</strong>urist<br />

museums <strong>and</strong> monuments, excluding <strong>the</strong><br />

Chorus Pass churches. Bear in mind that<br />

<strong>the</strong>se hours are prone <strong>to</strong> sudden alterations,<br />

especially in winter, when afternoon opening<br />

hours are frequently truncated if business<br />

is particularly slack. Last admission for <strong>the</strong><br />

major museums is one hour before closing<br />

time; for smaller sights, tickets are generally<br />

sold up <strong>to</strong> half an hour before closing.<br />

An asterisk after <strong>the</strong> price indicates that a<br />

concessionary rate is available for students<br />

who can prove <strong>the</strong>ir status; children under<br />

6 years of age pay nothing, while 6–12s are<br />

entitled <strong>to</strong> reductions at nearly all attractions,<br />

provided <strong>the</strong>y are accompanied by an adult.<br />

Visi<strong>to</strong>rs from EU countries who can prove <strong>the</strong>y<br />

are aged under 18 or over 65 are entitled <strong>to</strong><br />

free admission at <strong>the</strong> Accademia, Ca’ d’Oro,<br />

Museo Archeologico <strong>and</strong> Museo Orientale.<br />
