18. USE OF COMMON SEAL<br />

18.1<br />

The Chief Executive is to hold the common seal of the local authority and<br />

be responsible for its use. Any document required to be executed under<br />

the Common Seal is to be applied to any such document in the presence of<br />

any two of the following: the Chief Executive, the General Legal Counsel,<br />

a General Manager, the Mayor or a councillor.<br />

18.2<br />

Subject to standing order 18.3, the Common Seal may be applied where<br />

<strong>Council</strong>, a committee or an officer acting pursuant to delegated authority<br />

has previously approved the transaction. The application of the Seal must<br />

be reported to <strong>Council</strong> at its next ordinary meeting.<br />

18.3<br />

The Seal may only be applied to warrants for enforcement officers under<br />

LGA 2002, after the warrants have been approved by <strong>Council</strong> in the<br />

sealing list.<br />
