Public notification of<br />

resolutions at<br />

Extraordinary Meetings<br />

13.4<br />

(1) A local authority must, as soon as practicable, publicly notify any<br />

resolution passed at an extraordinary meeting of the local authority<br />

unless-<br />

(a)<br />

(b)<br />

the resolution was passed at a meeting or part of a meeting from which<br />

the public was excluded; or<br />

the extraordinary meeting was publicly notified at least 5 working days<br />

before the day on which the meeting was held.<br />

(2) For the purposes of this section, resolution means the resolution on the matter<br />

or matters for which the extraordinary meeting was held.<br />

14.1<br />

All meetings of the local authority and its committees shall be open to the<br />

public and news media except where otherwise provided by Part VII of<br />

LGOIMA.<br />

14.2<br />

All information provided to members at local authority and committee<br />

meetings shall be available to the public and news media unless any item<br />

included in the agenda refers to any matter to be considered by the local<br />

authority when the meeting is not likely to be open to the public.<br />

14.3<br />

All meetings scheduled for the following month shall be publicly notified<br />

not more than 14 days and not less than five days before the end of every<br />

month, together with the dates on which and the times and places at which<br />

those meetings are to be held. Where any meeting is to be held on or<br />

after the 21 st day of the month, such meetings may instead be publicly<br />

notified not more than 10 nor less than five working days before the day on<br />

which the meeting is to be held.<br />

extraordinary meetings<br />

14.4<br />

Where any extraordinary meeting of a local authority is called and notice<br />

of that meeting cannot be given in the manner required or permitted by<br />

this section, the local authority shall cause that meeting and the general<br />

nature of business to be transacted at that meeting to be publicly notified<br />

or otherwise advertised as soon as practicable before the meeting is to be<br />

held.<br />

14.5<br />

Where any extraordinary meeting of a local authority is called pursuant to<br />

a resolution of the local authority, the local authority must cause the
