Percents<br />

For example: Change 25 1/4 % to a decimal.<br />

1. Drop the percent. 25<br />

2. Change 1/4 to a decimal. 4 ÷ 1= .25<br />

3. Put in the decimal point. 25.25<br />

4. Move the decimal point 0.2525<br />

two places to the left.<br />

The next example will show that when a percent like 100%, 200%, 300% etc. is<br />

changed to a decimal, the answer is a whole number.<br />

Here’s another example: Change 100% to a decimal.<br />

1. Drop the %. 100<br />

2. Put in the decimal point. 100.<br />

3. Move the decimal point<br />

two places to the left. 1.00 =1<br />

100% = 1<br />
