Decimals are rounded the same way whole numbers are rounded.<br />
For example: Round 9.635 to the nearest one.<br />
1. The number to the right of the ones is 6.<br />
2. 6 is greater than 5.<br />
3. The ones number is rounded up one.<br />
4. 9.635 rounded to the nearest one is 10.<br />
Let’s try this one: Round 9.635 to the nearest tenth.<br />
1. The number to the right of the tenths is 3.<br />
2. 3 is less than 5.<br />
3. The tenths number stays the same.<br />
4. 9.635 rounded to the nearest tenth is 9.6.<br />
Let’s try one more: Round 9.635 to the nearest hundredth.<br />
1. The number to the right of the hundredths is 5.<br />
2. 5 is 5 or greater.<br />
3. The hundredths number is rounded up one.<br />
