Topography: Austria combines a truly unique variety <strong>of</strong> landscapes, climatic<br />
conditions and flora. Austria’s landscapes range from <strong>the</strong> peaks <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Alps<br />
to hill country and plains. Its highest mountain is <strong>the</strong> Grossglockner (3,797<br />
metres / 12,530 feet). Its longest river is <strong>the</strong> Danube, which flows through<br />
Austria for a length <strong>of</strong> 350 kilometres (220 miles). There are about 9,000<br />
lakes in Austria, <strong>of</strong> which 5,000 are natural and 4,000 are man-made.<br />
Climate: At a latitude <strong>of</strong> 42° north, <strong>the</strong> climate is moderate and<br />
generally agreeable. In summer <strong>the</strong> temperature ranges from 15ºC (night)<br />
to 27ºC (day).<br />
How to get <strong>the</strong>re: Austrian Airlines, Emirates, Qatar Airways and China Air<br />
(from Abu Dhabi) all operate direct services between Vienna and <strong>the</strong> Gulf.<br />
Austria can easily reached by plane. Munich Airport is well connected to<br />
every major city in <strong>the</strong> Middle East. From Munich <strong>the</strong> trip to Austria takes<br />

neighbouring countries.<br />
Car hire: Facilities are available at all international airports in larger cities<br />
