The Sacrament of Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is normally celebrated on the
second Sunday of each month. A Parent Preparation Program
is required for first time parents. New parents
should register for the Baptism as soon as possible after
the child’s birth by contacting the Parish Office.
Reconciliation
Saturday 11:30-12 Noon and 4:30 to 5:00pm.
Matrimony
According to the policy of the Archdiocese of Newark
arrangements for weddings should be made at least one
year in advance. Please contact the priest whom you wish
to officiate at your wedding, by calling the Parish Office.
Novena
In honor of Our Lady and St. Jude - Monday Mornings –
(September—June) immediately following 8:30 Mass

A message from our Pastor:
Dear Parishioners,
This weekend our country comes together to
celebrate Memorial Day. For many, this weekend
signals the unofficial start of summer, when the
Parkway south becomes a parking lot on a Friday
evening and stays that way until Sunday night. Shorts
come out of the closet, grills and patio furniture get
cleaned up and the nerve rattling sound of the ice
cream truck invades the quiet night air; days have
become noticeable longer with more and more hours of
light.
Even in the parish, many organizations and
programs have ended until September, and our boys
and girls can give you a very accurate count of days
remaining until graduation or the end of the school
year.
All of this is very good. Everyone needs the
opportunity to slow down and this weekend is as good a
time as any to begin that.
However, in the midst of all of the above, it is very
easy to forget the real reason for Memorial Day. As
Americans, we can do all the fun summer “stuff”
because we live in a country that values the gift of
freedom. This is a gift which has been ensured, time
and time again, by the valiant sacrifices of all those who
have served in the armed forces and paid the ultimate
price for their service. Were it not for these countless
men and women, our country, and our lives, would be
vastly different. We need to take a moment to stop and
remember them. We need to take a moment to say
thank you, either out loud, or in a silent prayer. We
need to honor all those who, by their blood and sweat,
make our style of life possible.
Former British Prime minister Tony Blair once
commented hat in history, only two people freely
sacrificed their lives to save those they did not know.
One of them was Jesus Christ, the other is the American
soldier. Before you light up the grill this weekend,
remember them, and all those who have served.

Congratulations to our Volleyball Tournament

Grusinski. We had 11 teams participate and money
was raised for the disabled children, wheelchair
bound and the homeless.
Our 8 th grade class will be having
their Graduaon Dance on Friday,
May 31st, from 7pm -11pm.
We wish all of our soon-to-be
graduates a beauful night & fond
memories of their years spent here at Holy Spirit
School.

Along with the Labels for Education and Box Top$ for
Education programs, Holy Spirit School also
participates in an additional fundraiser from Tyson
products. Clipping these labels is a great way to get
FREE merchandise for Holy Spirit School! Many
companies now participate in these programs, so by
saving the labels with the UPC bar code, and clipping the
Box Tops for Education symbol and Tyson labels from
these products, you are helping Holy Spirit School!
Collection boxes for these labels are located on the tables
inside the entrances of our Church and School.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
We would again like to offer a Vacation Bible School
for a week in the Summer. The school would run
Monday to Friday
July 8—12
from 9:30—12:00
To do so we need a number of adult volunteers. We
have some volunteers but we are in need of additional.
Each day will include:
Scripture, Singing, Learning, Prayers,
Crafts, and a Snack

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is “a
gradual process that takes place within the
community of the faithful.” The length of time of the
process varies according to individual need,
experience, readiness and commitment. If you, or

Memorial Opportunities
If you were present at the Anniversary Mass, or
on the following Sunday, you noticed a set of 4
new chalices being used for Holy Communion.
These are available to be memorialized in honor
of a loved one, either individually or as the complete
set. If you want more information about

Religious Education Re-Registration
Registration has begun for the 2013 – 2014
Religious Education Program. Please drop off your
registrations as soon as possible. Re-registration
materials were sent to each family who had a child
in the program this year. If you did not receive this
mailing please call the Office of Religious Education
at 908 964-7533.
New Registrations for Religious Education
If you need to register a child going into the first
grade or have recently moved into the area, now is
the time to register for the 2013-2014 Religious
Education Program. Please stop by the office to fill
out the necessary materials. Please bring a copy of
the child’s Baptismal Certificate when registering.

A Sincere Thank You
I wish to express my sincerest gratitude to all who helped make our celebration on Saturday evening
such a smashing success. From the liturgy, the music, the decorations and set-up in the parish hall, the
food and the organization of the entire event, everything was absolutely wonderful. Our 50th
Anniversary celebrations have truly begun on a very high note, and will only go higher from here.
Our next event will be a family movie night, to be held in our parking lot next month. All our parish
families are invited to join us, bring your own “stuff” and come prepared to have a great tailgating
party, followed by a family-oriented movie, done “drive-in” style. More information will be
forthcoming, and I hope to see many of you there. Remember, this event is open to all of our families,
young and old, big and small so please come and have fun.
