SUN CITY ANTHEM BOARD OF DIRECTORS
President’s Report
One-year extension of RMI Management Agreement.
Our Association is currently managed under a three-year
agreement with RMI that ends on December 31. At its July
meeting, our Board approved in concept the extension of
this agreement for one-year, and appointed a Board task
force to negotiate suitable provisions during the one-year
extension. This extension is intended to provide time to
identify other management companies that could manage
our Association, decide whether to put management
services out to bid, and if this decision is made, to write a
request for proposal (RFP), evaluate proposals, negotiate a
new management agreement, and potentially transition to
a new management company.
OLLI classes coming to our Association. Our Board has
approved free room use to hold Osher Lifelong Learning
Institute (OLLI) classes in Association buildings. We
expect these classes to begin in January, since the fall class
schedule has already been set. OLLI is a member-led
organization in which the learning process takes place in
study groups. Most OLLI classes are held on the UNLV
campus, and remaining classes are held at satellite
locations around the valley. A person pays tuition to take
OLLI classes ($75 per semester or $40 for summer session).
Payment of this tuition entitles a person to take as many
classes as he or she wishes at any OLLI location.
Information cafeteria. You can choose from numerous
options our Association offers to stay abreast of what is
happening in our community.
1. The monthly Spirit magazine you are holding is full
of information about the activities of our Board, our
committees, our clubs and many other community
activities.
2. You can sign up for e-mail blasts that report
Association news, describe upcoming meetings, and
announce temporary facility closures. I urge you give
them a try if you are not already receiving them. After
signing into the SCA website, look for and click on
“Click here to make your selections” and check the
“Alerts and Events” box on the page you see next (also
check any other notices you want to receive.) You can
unsubscribe at any time by un-checking the boxes of
any notices you no longer want to receive.
3. Starting this month, you can watch a new 30-minute
roundtable discussion featuring two of our volunteers
discussing an Association topic with a moderator. I
will also provide a monthly report of Association
activities as a segment on Anthem Alive. Watch these
on channel 99 or 980 if you are Cox Cable subscriber,
or at www.suncityanthem99.com on your computer
or tablet.
4. Our committees, task forces and staff prepare
numerous reports that are assembled by our staff
into a “Board Book” that our Board uses to prepare for
each board meeting. You are now able to read a draft
version of the Board Book on Monday afternoon of
Board meeting week. After signing into the SCA
website, click on Documents / Draft Documents /
Draft Board Book. You can click on any blue text on
the agenda to go to the report for that agenda item.
Click on the blue box in the lower left of the first page
of a report to return to the agenda. Because the Board
Book is so big, you will need high speed internet to
download it. As a reminder, free high speed internet
via Wi-Fi is now available in all Association
buildings.
5. You can attend the two-hour agenda review
workshop held by our Board at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday
of Board meeting week. This workshop has evolved
into a free-wheeling discussion of the agenda topics
among our directors, committee and task force
representatives, our members and our staff. This
workshop is all discussion and no decisions
(decisions can only be made at the Thursday board
meeting).
6. You can attend our Board’s monthly meeting on the
fourth Thursday of most months (it’s on the third
Thursday in November and there isn’t a December
meeting). This is the business meeting at which our
Board makes decisions.
The e-mail blasts discussed at #2 serve an important role in
helping you use the other information sources. For example,
I send an e-mail blast at the beginning of each Board
meeting week listing the highlights of that week’s board
agenda. If you are interested in any of these issues, you can
read the portion of the Board Book dealing with it and
decide whether to attend the agenda review workshop and
Board meeting that month.
Here we are again, Spirit article time, one of the truly great
free monthly benefits of our community. New and existing
residents of Sun City Anthem may wish to make changes
to the exterior of their property. We all strive to make and
purchased them. So please fill out an application and join
us every second and fourth Thursday of the month with
two copies of the changes you plan.
One item we would like to address is the installation of
satellite dishes. When coming in for approval, please
speak with a member so as to determine the best location
from both an aesthetic and reception standpoint.
In order to avoid costly unapproved changes, you can view
Next Meeting: Wednesday, September 12, 10:00 a.m.
Arlington Room, Anthem Center
The Communications Committee (CC) continues work on
its many projects including print, Internet, public relations
and broadcasting.
The public relations task force completed its first major
project: compiling and standardizing an information
packet of handouts for new residents, contained in a
handsome SCA folder. The Board approved materials in
the packet and it was distributed at the July 18
new-resident coffee for more than 50 newcomers. (Thank
you Pam Troia for another delicious, entertaining and
information-packed new-resident coffee!) From now on,
new residents will receive this folder when they obtain
their membership cards.
If you haven't done so already, sign up for the SCA website
message board. Cards with instructions on how to
register for both the website and message board are
This month, Channel 99 would like to recognize Nancy
Hepburn, producer of Channel 99’s “Showcase”. Nancy
joined Channel 99 in 2007. Working tirelessly behind the
scenes, she has not only produced 91 Showcase programs,
but single-handedly organized and cataloged the Channel
99 field tape library of some 1,040 tapes. Besides being the
“efficiency expert” and reorganizing the camera
equipment room, she is Channel 99's resident expert on
the SCALA player, the device that schedules and sends
Channel 99 programming to Cox Cable. Nancy, thank you
for your five years of dedicated service!
Channel 99 has some new show offerings, so be sure to
tune in. Weekly program listings are now available at the
COVENANTS COMMITTEE
The Board of Directors, as required in Article 5.2 of the By
Laws, established a Deed Restriction Enforcement
Committee. At Sun City Anthem this committee is called
the “Covenants Committee.”
The Covenants Committee is the hearing tribunal of the
Association and conducts hearings held pursuant to
Section 3.26 of the By Laws and Article 7.4 of the
Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions.
Hearings are normally scheduled once a month and they
are not open to the public or membership. A hearing is
scheduled when a case cannot be resolved during the
enforcement process. The Covenants Committee hearing
tribunal reviews the information regarding an alleged
violation and determines if a violation of the standards
set forth in the Governing Documents occurred. This
committee is also responsible for imposing fines and/or
sanctions.
Following a hearing before the Covenants Committee, the
alleged violator shall have the right to appeal the decision
to the Board.
began in February. The process utilizes many, many hours
of volunteer time by persons serving on multiple
committees. The contribution of the work of these
volunteers is crucial. Their input insures that the
proposed budget is a responsible financial plan and
represents how residents expect our quarterly assessments
to be used to maintain the community and quality of life
at SCA.
In looking at the proposed budget, my first reaction is
how large it is at $9+ million. But upon reflection, I am
impressed at how little it costs each of us to live at
SCA—just a little under $92 per month. When I look at
all of the facilities and activities to which we have
access, I ask, how do we do it at such low cost One of
the key answers is the level and quality of volunteer
time devoted by the people who live in SCA. Clearly,
replacing the services provided by our volunteers with
paid service providers would significantly increase the
cost of living here. Therefore, as the process begins for
approving a budget for 2013, I hope all residents will
take a little time to thank their neighbors whose
volunteer efforts make living at SCA a superior and
low-cost experience.
All meetings of the Finance Committee are open tothe
public. Residents are encouraged to attend our
meetings to better understand the financial operations
of your community. We welcome resident input at the
12 Sun City Anthem • September 2012
meetings as a way to both gather new ideas and to
maintain contact with the community.
By the way, the Finance Committee needs several
additional members. If you have a background in
accounting and/or financial management, we would like
the opportunity to discuss with you how you can help us
support the Board of Directors in overseeing the financial
operations of SCA. If interested, please feel free to contract
me for more information.
Committee's pilot program in resident-directed activities:
Nutrition and Healthy Eating Discussion, Tai Ji Fan &
detailed information on these in this month's Relay.
In addition, the committee is actively working on the
implementation of our approved strategic plan, including
(a) benchmarking other appropriate communities in
order to make appropriate recommendations regarding
the fitness needs of SCA residents, (b) improving
communications to and from SCA residents regarding
health and fitness issues, and (c) assessing community
demographics to assure on-going community vitality.
At this writing, it is not known whether the Health &
Are you a member of a busy SCA club, with lots of
meetings, programs and social events Have you ever
thought about who arranges for the room reservations,
set-up and audio/visual equipment, speaker or program,
and the refreshments The answer is your club’s officers
and committee chairs who constitute your club board.
They work with RMI to achieve the desired results
necessary to accommodate and entertain you every
month. They strive to make your club appealing and
successful.
Our wonderful community is dependent on generous
residents who donate their time to make SCA the best
place to retire. In addition to leading our 51 clubs, our
volunteers serve on standing committees, in service
groups and on our Board of Directors. SCA would not
have the spectacular reputation it has without our many
Compliance
Quiet Enjoyment-What does it mean
The second paragraph of CC&R 3.6 (h)
Quiet Enjoyment states:
No obnoxious, illegal, or offensive activity shall be carried on
upon any portion of the Properties, which in the Board's
reasonable determination tends to cause embarrassment,
discomfort, annoyance, or nuisance to persons using the
Common Area or to the Occupants and invitees
of other Lots.
This provision of the CC&Rs specifically applies to persons
using or working in the common areas. These areas include
the Community Centers at Anthem. There are hundreds of
people utilizing the three centers and outdoor common area
facilities. These people enjoy the sport courts, exercise at the
fitness center, swim or exercise in the pool, participate in a
favorite hobby, play a game of pool or cards, and visit with
friends while watching television. Along with them are
employees and contractors who are managing the day-to-day
operations and providing services or materials to the
Association.
Obviously, with all of this activity, an understanding
of proper behavior and respect for others, along with
adherence to rules is the key to ensuring the use and
management of these areas is a smooth operation.
Please follow the fitness rules when utilizing the
equipment, walking track, pools, and locker room areas. If
you observe a violation of the fitness rules you should report
it immediately to the fitness monitor or manager,
especially if the violation may be a health or safety issue.
If you observe someone who you believe is in violation of the
Quiet Enjoyment Clause because their behavior is embarrassing,
annoying or a nuisance to others, or the
behavior is obnoxious or offensive, you may report this in
writing. There is a form for reporting these things
available at the Fitness Center desk and at the front desk at
each center. Please ask for the form entitled “REQUEST FOR
COMPLIANCE ACTION.” You may also submit a request for
compliance action by utilizing the web site form, or sending
an email to compliance @scacai.com. All requests must be in
writing and we must have your name and address, which is
not shared with anyone outside of the necessary management
staff. We will need, at a minimum, the name of the person
you are alleging to be in violation and details regarding
the violation such as what, when, where, observations.
These reports are submitted to the Compliance
Department and may be dropped off at the Membership Desk
in Anthem Center or given to a fitness monitor
or front desk employee and they will deliver it to the
Compliance Department.
The majority of residents who use the common areas are
considerate and respectful of the rights of others.
However, if you observe, or are the victim of, behavior that is
not appropriate, then you may expect that after submitting a
written description of the situation with details, the
Association will take measures to resolve the matter. If you
have any questions regarding this type of issue you may
contact me at Christine.wikoff@scacai.com or 614-5859.
Best Regards,
Facilities/Landscaping
September
~ September 11, 1875, the very first comic strip was printed in a newspaper.
September 1 is a very
important date. You may
find our reminders repetitive
but they are very important
since the Association or
homeowners would not be
excited to get a fine or a
citation from the Southern
Nevada Water Authority
(SNWA.) SNWAs guidelines
require that on September 1,
it is mandatory to cut back on
watering to three days a week.
For all of Anthem, the watering days are Monday,
Wednesday and Friday as designated by SNWAs
Water Group E.
You will find that September is a good month for
pruning and cleaning out dead wood on plants in
all landscape areas. Since the ground is still warm
enough, we can go ahead and plant new trees and
shrubs where needed, as there is still adequate
time to establish new root systems before our
winter chill begins to surface. While doing so, it
is a good idea to trim out any dead branches in
trees and shrubs. Dead branches that are left will
actually steal water and nutrients away from the
production of new foliage, leaving the tree or plant
looking stressed. It is also a good time to check for
insect damage and/or fungus growth on your
plants. Immediate treatment will improve the
overall appearance of the landscape.
If you travel Eastern Avenue, you have probably
noticed all the landscape activity that had been
happening. There were dead and stressed trees and
plants that needed removal. In addition, there were
trees that were way too large for their formerly
allotted space. After their removal, new trees and
plants were added. We also expanded the existing
irrigation lines to accommodate the water needs of
mature established trees and plants. All of this
work was done on Eastern Avenue, which includes
the streetscapes and medians from Sun City
Anthem Drive to the City of Henderson property
located just below Evansville. This is all
Association-owned property on which we provide
the landscape maintenance.
The featured photo is an Association-owned lot at
Americana and Williamsport that has recently been
upgraded. Del Webb’s original design was just
desert revegetation with no irrigation. Due to the
lot’s proximity to the existing streetscape and Model
Entrance Monuments, it needed to blend in with
the surrounding area. At the direction of the Board
of Directors, proposals and designs were solicited
for consideration. Valley Crest Landscape was
selected by the Board for this project. Irrigation was
added to allow
planting of
specimen trees
and plants. The
area was
re-graded and
large boulders
were rearranged.
Also, a border of
granite rock
mulch was addedd
to match the
adjacent
streetscape.
Included in the new theme were Chilean Mesquite
trees, Texas Ebony trees, Arizona Rosewood shrubs,
Trailing Indigo and Sierra Gold ground cover.
With the prime goal of keeping our community
beautiful, we regularly walk our grounds and
interact with the crews from three landscape
companies that maintain our outdoor areas.
These areas include: the grounds around the
Centers, SCA streetscapes; desert re-veg areas;
the common areas and gate maintenance in
Pinnacle Village; the landscape around the duplex
homes; and rock drains within our community.
We always welcome the opportunity to speak with
the homeowners. If you have questions,
comments or concerns regarding any of our
properties, please don’t hesitate to contact me at:
christine.noble@scacai.com or 614-5863.
ANTHEM AUTHORS
I always write the last chapter of my novels first,
then write the chapters that lead to the ending.
John Irving
Members were treated to a talk about memoir writing by
published author and Riga, Latvia native, Oksana
Marafiota. She read an excerpt from her memoir American
Gypsy, about her father’s gift for exorcism.
Another three-part story, written sequentially by Elaine
Stubbs, Kate Hutton and Dianne Hahn, “The Corpse in
Coral Lipstick,” was read. Lynn Lanier read an excerpt
from his novel, “Resurrection of Romeo.” James Logsden
continued his memoir of his first job in the Philippines
with a chapter titled “Scuba Monday.”
These are examples of the new and exciting (and yes, fun)
things Anthem Authors experience. You don’t have be a
writer to attend; although even if you don’t think you’re a
writer, you might be surprised. Anthem Authors meetings
feature exercises, contests and tips designed to inspire and
improve your writing. Memoirs, fantasy, mystery and
poetry all have been explored and there are also many
contests to be entered. Memoirs remain a great vehicle for
organizing your thoughts and experiences to pass on to
your families.
Our annual membership dues are $10.00. Our website is
BILLIARDS CLUB
The Billiards Club is a social organization for people who
enjoy the game of Billiards, along with socializing and
making new friends. Whether you are an expert player,
need to brush up on your skills or want to learn the game,
the Billiards Club invites you to join! If you have never
played pool, you’ll discover it’s a lot of fun. All Sun City
Anthem residents are welcome and encouraged to join.
Call Club President, Ron Armstrong, 837-0251, Vice
President, Chuck Boxwell, 897-3991, Secretary, Beth
Weddle, 407-8342, or Treasurer, Dzintra Landers, 492-6778,
for information on joining.
Club Structure: Regular competitive club play consists of
different member flights, handicapped by ability. You play
against members with similar skill levels. New members
are evaluated before competitive play. There is also a social
flight for those who simply want to play to improve their
game, meet new people and have fun. Lessons are
available free of charge to any and all club members. We
have also formed a USAPL League which plays on
Tuesday nights in the Billiards Room. Please call an officer
for details.
Tournaments: Daily tournaments are played at 1:00 p.m.,
held at this meeting.
BOCCE
League Play: As the heat of summer fades into memory,
our thoughts turn to Bocce. The fall 2012 season is upon us
and with it lays the challenges of old rivalries and new
contenders. Your Bocce Board invites you to forget the fun
of watching your utility meter spin endlessly, get outdoors
and bask in the cool Bocce season. Remember, if you are a
newbie or a rusty old player, you can check out Bocce balls
at the Independence Center and practice until you are
skilled. The season kicks off the week of September 10 and
we wish everyone good luck, good fun and good natured
competition.
Captains’ Meeting: Mark your calendars for the Captains’
with all the information you need to be well informed this
season. Avoid the confusion and perplexities that occurs
when well-intentioned players are uninformed. We
encourage all representatives to stay for the entire meeting
and learn of the changes in rules and policies. In addition,
you can meet the board and greet old friends and
adversaries.
BOOK
Club meeting - Thursday, September 20, 2:00 p.m. - 3:00
p.m. in the Penn/Nelson Rooms at Independence Center.
Each month, the Book Club reads
and discusses a book. The
September selection is State of
Wonder by Ann Patchett. Dr.
Marina Singh, a brilliant research
scientist at a pharmaceutical
firm, is sent to Brazil to track down
the field team headed by her
former mentor, Annick Swenson.
The team is developing a
breakthrough drug, but has been
virtually silent for two years. The
search is made more challenging
by the reported death of the first
person sent to check up on the
team, Anders Eckman. Marina’s
journey into the jungle is full of
physical challenges and moral
dilemmas as she confronts her past
as well as the ramifications of
future decisions.
Our book for October is Daughter of Fortune by Isabel
Allende. The November selection is Dreams of Joy by Lisa
See.
All members of the Book Club are eligible to nominate
books for our 2013 reading list. We will finalize the
nominations in September and vote on our selections in
October.
SCA Book Club members volunteer at the SCA library. The
library is located at Independence Center and has a
collection that includes fiction and nonfiction, paperback
and hardback books. Books may be borrowed by SCA
residents on the honor system. Book donations are
welcomed, but due to space constraints, only books
published within the past eight to ten years are accepted.
The Book Club usually meets on the third Thursday of
each month. Guests are welcome at any meeting. For those
who wish to join, dues are $5.
Please direct any questions to Susan Hernandez at
Pet of the Month
ABOUT DUDLEY
Ron and Sandy Shapiro decided toọ
bring a dog back into their lives.
Wi t h t e c h n o l o g y, t h e y h a d researched all avenues to guide ẹ
them to their new family member.
Researching is fine and dandy, but
when being eye to eye with a new
prospective family member, the
heart takes over all the research that ts
the brain has acquired. That is
exactly what happened to the
Shapiros. They attended the
Woofstock Event and there was
Dudley. He was with the Las Vegas
Cocker Rescue. They immediately knew they had found
the right dog and he went into their hearts and into their
home.
There were adjustments that needed to be worked through
as with any rescue dog. However, each day becomes even
better than the day before and currently he is the joy of
their life.
To be placed on the Pet Club Email list, send an email to
SCAPetClub@aol.com and you will receive email advising
you of upcoming events. Guest Policy allows you to attend
two events before joining.
PICKLEBALL
PINOCHLE
A little humor from the
Pebble Creek Pickleball
Club, as the summer moves
towards its end and the
snowbirds return.
The Club advertised a “Pickleball Summer Boot Camp”, an
intensive training course to toughen up players mentally
and physically.
Sessions to include:
1. Psyching out your opponents.
2. Secrets of illegal serving.
3. With a straight face, calling questionable shots “out.”
4. Creating havoc with your court attire.
5. Convincing opponents they called the score
incorrectly.
6. Showing malice and forethought when hitting your
opponent with the ball.
7. How to secretly sneak in and out of the kitchen area
when volleying a shot.
8. The art of misquoting rules.
9. Legally heckling your opponent during a match.
10. What disheartening words to use after a match when
you meet your opponents at the net.
This author has a very clever sense of humor!
Training Development will start up again in September.
club's kiln, and painting porcelain pieces in China paint
The Porcelain Club is pleased to announce that we are
fortunate to have Carole Beck join our club. She is available
REPUBLICAN
The Republican Club of Sun City
Anthem (RCSCA) meets at 10:00 a.m.
on the second Saturday of each month
in Independence Center. These
meetings are an opportunity to hear
stimulating speakers, engage in
question-and-answer sessions with
them, and discuss topical issues. The
most important presidential election of
our lifetimes is upon us, and being knowledgeable about
the issues is the key to success.
Speakers for our September 8 meeting will include:
Melissa Woodbury represents
Assembly District 23 and is
seeking re-election for her third
term. She will update us on her
legislation from last session and
the importance of women in
politics. Elected to the Nevada
State Legislature in 2008, Melissa
has been actively pursuing ways
to improve education and
treatment for special needs
children. As an educator in Clark
County for 18 years, Melissa
brings a keen understanding of
the challenges facing teachers in
the classroom and has quickly
become a strong advocate in the
State Assembly for education
reform. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Special
Education from BYU and earned a Master’s degree in
Education from Southern Utah University.
Lynn Stewart was elected to
the t2HtLEmB3ilevels, Nevada State Assembly in
2006, representing District 22.
He is a member of the Education,
Government Affairs,
Legislative Operations and
Elections, and Taxation Committees.
Having taught at
Boulder City High School for
34 years, his is committed to
improving education at all
levels, and to using tax dollars
for new books and better
technology and to attract and
retain competent teachers. He would like to cut bureaucratic
red tape that hinders job growth, and ensure that
the government operates within a responsible budget.
Also joining us will be Clark County District Court Judge
Kerry Louise Earley, who is campaigning to retain her
judicial office in the November election. She has 30 years
of Nevada legal experience with a strong litigation
background in personal injury, wrongful death and
employment issues.
We have an urgent need for volunteers to help during the
upcoming election campaign. Please contact Kay Dwyer,
Secretary at kaycd@cox.net or phone 733-0401 if you are
interested or if you would like more information about
the RCSCA.
Club Information
As the summer heat is fading into cooler fall weather, Sun
City Anthem residents are returning to town from their
summer travels. This is a perfect time to begin a new
hobby or return to one
that has been set aside
during the hot summer rs
months. Interest groups
are starting up again and
the club members are
also busy preparing for rs
upcoming holiday events
and craft fairs. We would
d
love to have you be a part
of all the activity.
Every Thursday afternoon, n,
club members meet for workshops to produce items to be
sold in the room and at our Sun City Anthem Craft Fairs.
This is a great way to practice your sewing skills and make
new friends. Some of the items that we have made include
placemats, aprons, table runners, dish towel dresses and
more.
We had a wonderful member appreciation luncheon
catered by Sweet Tomatoes and a fashion show with
clothing from The Refinery and modeled by members. A
great time was had by all who attended.
Our website, www.scasq.org is updated frequently and
includes a full schedule of classes and activities, as well as
lots of helpful information about our shared interest
groups for quilting, crocheting, knitting, doll clothes
construction and machine embroidery. Please come in and
check us out or visit the website.
SHANGHAI RUMMY (PUSH)
Mondays 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Emerson/Franklin Room
Shanghai Rummy, aka Push, is a quick and simple version
of rummy. The game is played with three or four players at
a table. Most players elect to play two or even three games
in the afternoon of play. We have both men and women
playing and you are welcome to join us. If you are new to
the game, call Shirley LaChance at 837-9924 and arrange a
quick, 15-minute instruction. Our members are very
welcoming to newcomers and are gracious about fitting
new players in, so don't wait, join us.
Members: A reminder that our election for officers is held
in September. If you are interested in serving as an officer
or nominating someone, please call President Shirley
LaChance (837-9924) or Vice President Donna Toploski
(489-4989.)
SINGLES
Please join us at SCA Singles Club if you are interested in
meeting other single members of our community. We offer
T Times, usually at Buckman’s, on the first and third
Fridays of the month from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Good
conversation and cocktails, followed by dinner at a nearby
restaurant, creates a wonderful way to meet other singles
and socialize.
So many shared interest groups are available such as
games, dance, cooking, bowling, fine dining, weekly
soirees and breakfast and lunch groups. Recently, we had a
very successful fine dining group meeting at Firefly.
Upcoming events include our annual Halloween Party in
October, which has always been a great favorite with our
members, along with a fabulous Holiday Party planned
for December at the M Resort. Other activities are in the
planning stage for September, so please check our website.
For membership information, you may contact Maxine
Block at 489-8966. Dues are $10.00 per year and entitle
members to attend all functions. For further information,
log on to our website at www.scasingles.com or you may
check the bulletin board in Anthem Center for possible
changes and new events.
Board meetings are held the first Monday of each month
at 5:00 p.m. in the Concord Room in Anthem Center. For
further information, contact Carol Bochner, President, at
We would love to have you join us!
SOFTBALL
Are you looking to start a new exercise program Well
here is a great way to give your body a fun wake-up call
every Tuesday and Friday morning.
During the summer months, warm ups begin at 8:00 a.m.
at Anthem Hills field, behind the Del Webb School on
Reunion. Toss the ball around, take a few swings, shag a
few balls and get to meet some of the members. We have a
nice mix of retired and semi-retired men and women who
enjoy the game, along with a little “razzing” here and
there. At 8:30 or so we “choose up” teams. This keeps
the atmosphere more relaxed than set teams. It truly is a
good time.
Now you might think that you are not sure that the “old”
body can still take it. Hmmmmm, we have all felt that at
one time or another. No need to worry. Come join us as a
guest for up to three times, you then make the choice of
whether or not you would like to join. The club is open to
all residents of Sun City Anthem. Yearly dues are $35.00.
If you would like any more information, please contact our
President, JP Molfetta at jpmvegas@yahoo.com or call
361-4572.
Hope to see you at the field.
