6.1 Major Findings and Conclusions<br />
This research mainly shows the different characteristics of passenger that<br />
lead to a decision of choosing to travel by <strong>West</strong> <strong>Rail</strong> or bus. Some characteristics are<br />
also used to segment those passengers with different transportation habit.<br />
Inconvenience stations and too many times of interchanging are the most<br />
important reason why bus passengers in <strong>West</strong> New Territories do not travel by <strong>West</strong><br />
<strong>Rail</strong>. On the other hand, people do not think safety is the reason that not choosing<br />
<strong>West</strong> <strong>Rail</strong>.<br />
Increase in fare concession is the most attractive measure for bus passengers<br />
to travel by <strong>West</strong> <strong>Rail</strong>. Increase the interchange concession and enhancing the feeder<br />
service in both <strong>West</strong> New Territories and Kowloon are also important measures for<br />
attracting passengers. But they think that promotion and promotional activities cannot<br />
attract them to take <strong>West</strong> <strong>Rail</strong>.<br />
