Promotion<br />

Before the opening of <strong>West</strong> <strong>Rail</strong>, KCRC held some public relations<br />

activities including open day of <strong>West</strong> <strong>Rail</strong> stations and a 3-day charity ride for the<br />

Community Chest of Hong Kong to improve the image of KCRC. TV and billboard<br />

advertisements were placed to promote the opening of <strong>West</strong> <strong>Rail</strong>. Also free tickets of<br />

celebrating <strong>West</strong> <strong>Rail</strong>’s first 100 day were distributed to residents in <strong>West</strong> New<br />

Territories to attract them to try the <strong>West</strong> <strong>Rail</strong> service. In order to attract more<br />

recreation trips, “<strong>West</strong> <strong>Rail</strong> fun all the way” was launched in different stations to<br />

provide entertainment like dance performances and health talks to passengers. <strong>West</strong><br />

<strong>Rail</strong> sightseeing buses were also launched on Sunday and public holidays between<br />

October and November 2004 to attract people to go to <strong>West</strong> New Territories for<br />

sightseeing<br />
