SEMIFINAL COMPETITION:<br />
A. The twenty-four (24) teams winning the Sectional competition will advance to the State Semifinal competitions to<br />
be fired on March 31, 2012 or earlier if agreed upon by both Area chairpersons involved. The Area chairpersons<br />
will coordinate the matches. All chairpersons will report the results and all individual qualifiers to both the State<br />
Director and to the GHSA office not later than April 2, 2012. TEAMS AND ALL QUALIFYING INDIVIDUALS MUST<br />
BE REPORTED FOR THEM TO COMPETE IN THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.<br />
STATE COMPETITION:<br />
A. The twelve (12) teams winning the Semifinal competitions and the two (2) teams with the highest losing scores in<br />
the Semifinals qualify to compete at the State Championship. Each of the participating school’s teams will enter<br />
a four member team with all shooters’ scores to count for the total team score. These four individuals also qualify<br />
for the state individual competition. All other GHSA competitors firing a 290 or better in a regular season GHSA Area<br />
match or in the Sectionals or Semifinals also qualify for the state individual competition if their team does not qualify.<br />
<strong>Schools</strong> with more than four competitors with the 290 or better qualification may use four of these competitors as<br />
a team plus their additional qualifiers may compete for the individual championship.<br />
B. Finals procedures will be used in determining the state individual standings but will have no effect on team standings.<br />
Finals will begin approximately 30 minutes after the end of the regular state competition.<br />
C. The State Riflery Championship will be held on April 14, 2012, at Fort Benning.<br />

GENERAL INFORMATION:<br />

SOCCER<br />
A. Soccer is a state championship event for boys and girls played in the Spring season with the following classification<br />
structure: Class AAAAA, AAAA, AAA, AA. Class A schools will be aligned in areas.<br />
B. All soccer matches will be played according to the rules published by the National Federation, and all National<br />
Federation recommendations for “State Adoption” have been adopted by the GHSA. Sub-varsity matches are limited<br />
to 35-minute halves.<br />
C. Notification of entry in AA/A Soccer must be filed in writing with the GHSA Office no later than April 1, for the upcoming<br />
school year so that teams may be placed into Areas for competition. All other classifications are structured according<br />
to regions.<br />
D. The number of soccer matches allowed (not including state tournaments) shall be eighteen (18). If a region/area<br />
chooses to play a region/area tournament, those matches must be included as part of the 18-game total allowed.<br />
Beginning and ending dates for practice and competition can be found at the front of this publication.<br />
E. All GHSA varsity soccer matches shall be played with one or more officially-dressed officials who are registered<br />
under the GHSA plan for the registration of officials.<br />
F. In accordance with By-Law 2.66, only one night before a school day per week may be used with competitions<br />
beginning at 6:00 p.m. or later.<br />
1. For evening matches, a single match must start no later than 7:30 p.m.<br />
2. For evening matches, a double-header must start no later than 6:00 p.m.<br />
G. Teams arriving late for a contest by thirty (30) minutes or more shall forfeit the match, and shall pay the officials unless<br />
prior arrangements are made in a timely manner, and both teams agree to start the game late or reschedule it.<br />
Consideration will also be given to emergency situations over which the traveling school has no control. The host<br />
school has the responsibility of notifying the officials of these changes.<br />
H. A student may not participate in more than three (3) halves of soccer per day except in a tournament setting, when<br />
a player may play two full matches in a calendar day.
