JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: DEPARTMENT: REPORTS TO: SUPERVISES: STATUS: HOURS: Communications Coordinator Advancement Communications Manager No one Exempt (salaried) 8:30-5:00 Monday through Friday; some evening or weekends as needed POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for coordinating key communications functions for SHH, working closely with the Communications Manager to develop and execute processes and projects in support of the Communications and Marketing department, the Advancement department and SHH as a whole. The Communications Coordinator must thrive in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision, and quickly comprehend and act on changing priorities when necessary. This position is the primary contact between the Communications department and other programmatic areas, and must demonstrate superior customer service, interpersonal communication and written communication skills. Marketing Publications Act as writer and editor for marketing and communications vehicles, both on and offline. Manage vendor bid process and quality service delivery including design, production and mailing services for quarterly newsletters, appeals, invitations, signage, displays, takeaways, posters, tickets and other collateral materials within budget and on time. Update SHH general & program brochures, media kit, key messages, and fact sheets as needed. Speakers Bureau Offer superior customer service to speaker/representative requestors during the scheduling process Develop format and process for scheduling SHH representatives to speak at events, check presentations, fairs, etc. Create and maintain a publicly-accessible speaker engagement calendar. Regularly update supporting materials for representatives, including fact sheets, presentations and other collateral. Events/Corporate Relations Communications and Marketing Work closely with Marketing Project Manager and Events Coordinator to develop an ongoing communications and marketing plan for events. Establish point of order and calendar-driven plan for events promotion. News Bureau Act as writer, editor and reporter, collecting news through external and internal sources. Interview industry sources to obtain editorial material (i.e. FA, HS and other hunger partners). Interview internal departments to obtain editorial material on programmatic and operational news. Logistical Event Coordination Set up interviews with/for spokespeople. Coordinate photography for events, activities and for use in publications. Ensure appropriate releases are signed and filed. Assist in the coordination of media events including press conferences, television segments, etc.<br />

Internal Responsibilities<br />

Work with Marketing Project Manager and <strong>Communications</strong> Manager to establish and publish<br />

timelines for communications projects and an editorial calendar<br />

Write, produce and edit marketing communications materials for internal departments as requested,<br />

including PowerPoint presentations.<br />

Maintain style, logo and brand guidelines.<br />

Maintain graphics and photograph files.<br />

QUALIFICATIONS:<br />

1. Education<br />

• BA in <strong>Communications</strong>, Public or Media Relations, Journalism or related experience<br />

2. Knowledge and skills:<br />

• Superior writing and oral communication skills<br />

• Strong editing skills<br />

• Basic Microsoft Office computer skills<br />

• Basic design/layout experience (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Publisher)<br />

• Basic HTML and CSS knowledge preferred<br />

• Some project management experience preferred<br />
