ON THE FARM!!
Amaranth, MB
Welcome to Kopp Farms 7th Annual Bull & Female Sale. Our
sale this year will be hosted at our farm on Monday, February
21st. I would like to thank all the bidders and buyers of all our
previous sales for their patronage and confidence in our breeding
program.
Well, here we are, it’s bull season again. It’s been a struggle to
get this sale catalogue put together between cows calving and
chores. It’s been 8 long years waiting for the effects of BSE to
give up it’s grip on the cattle industry, but the turn around is here,
calf prices last fall were much stronger and the future in the cattle
industry looks bright. The resolve and the determination of the
cattlemen is unbelievable and I congratulate you.
We have spent the last 25 years building a herd of cows that are
moderate in size, that are thick, easy fleshing, heavy milking, and
good uddered females that can raise bulls that meet the needs
of the commercial cattle industry. In this business there must be
room to grow, and each calf crop should be a little better than
the year before.
Our bulls this year are our best set of bulls to date. The black
bulls are all out of Tracker and they are a powerful set of bulls,
showing tremendous consistency as a group. The reds have a
lot of diversity, starting with the powerful Livewire sons. Touchdown
does his thing with some good thick calving ease bulls,
including some red performance bulls. Trademark left his mark
again with some outstanding sons. There will also be some real
good Ultimate sons, a powerful Upstart son, a few good Kodiak
sons, and a Wheatland son. The Fullblood section has a little
more diversity, this year with Northern and Hemi. You’ll see
some real good KOP Bolagi sons and of course the new kid on
the block, Gladiator, the Jahari son. You’ll see his first sons. They
are a little younger, but given a little extra time, they will make
powerful herd bulls.
The future looks bright for the cattle industry. Cattle numbers are
way down and dropping, and that means
you will see some record prices. So now is
the time to put the bull power in place and
take advantage of these record prices.
We have an awesome set of heifers in this year’s sale, so if you
are looking to add some foundation females to your herd, here is
your chance to add some top end genetics.
Our sale this year is going to be on the farm, which will make things
more convenient for our customers, for ourselves, and for the cattle.
The sale will be held in a live video format, where each animal will
be moving on a large screen while being sold. The cattle will be
penned in small groups just outside the sale barn.
If you have any questions about the sale animals, or the sale
format, please do not hesitate to contact us. If you need help with
selecting a bull or heifer phone myself or Steven.
We hope you can join us sale day, and we appreciate your interest
in our program.
Welcome to Kopp Farms 7th Annual Bull & Female Sale. This will be the largest selection
of Simmental bulls to sell in Manitoba in 2011. This year’s sale is on the farm in
Amaranth, better for the bulls and a new heated sales facility for the buyers. (There
will be room to sit down this year!)
Kopp Farms is a family run operation that is hard working and highly motivated in
raising great cattle. Edmund, Pauline, Steven and Amanda are responsible for all the
labour and marketing in this operation, and the hard work is paying off. Over 300 cows
walk these pastures, along with one of the most impressive herdbull batteries in the
business; nobody gets a free ride at Kopp Farms!
Again this year the bulls are very uniform, heavy muscled and big topped bulls. Select
from fullbloods, reds and blacks that are all backed by a Fleck influence. Watch out for
the first son of Skors Upstart. He is thick, long and flat-out-awesome and homozygous
polled. This set of bulls will work for purebred breeders and commercial cattlemen.
Check out this great set of bulls and let the herdbull shopping begin.
2011 brings us the strongest set of sale heifers to date. The front end of these heifers
would be sale highlights in any sale in the nation. Whether you are looking for brood
cows or a show heifer, you will find them here. Check out the awesome IPU Ultimate
heifers.
Come on down to Kopp Farms annual sale and see some great cattle raised by a very
dedicated family. Give us a call at Transcon if you are unable to attend; I have viewed
the bulls a couple of times in the last six months.
Thanks for attending,
IPU Red Touchdown 32S
Touchdown is a Teddy son we bought at the LaBatte Simmental bull
sale in 2007. This thick, deep bodied bull is the easiest calving herd
bull we have ever owned. The gestation on his calves are consistently
around 180 days. The growth rate on these Touchdown calves is
quite exceptional. They are so tiny at birth, yet some of the heaviest
at weaning, and they will be one of the thickest sire groups. His
daughters are the thickest, easiest fleshing, pear shaped females
you could imagine. Barry would be impressed with these females.
They are in a league of their own.
a nice tidy udder. Check her out on our website under “Pasture Tour”.
- 71X is a calf you could call a changer. He is a smaller framed calf with tremendous muscle expression.
He’s got a big wide top, big butt end, and really deep bodied. He is as solid as a brick.
- If you’ve got some cows that need to be framed down and thickened up, then you need to own 71X.
- 71X has a very moderate birth weight, but he is not a heifer bull. He should calve very well on mature
Upstart is a $15,000.00 bull we bought from Skor Simmentals. We
only got one calf out of him last year due to a problem that affected
his semen. The one we did get is the king of the red bulls. Had we
had 10 of his sons in this sale, it would have been something to see.
We have a good set of his calves on the ground this year and they
CG Tracker 45T
Tracker is a homozygous polled bull we bought out of the D Bar C
bull Sale. His sons are long, thick beef machines. These Tracker
calves were impressive from a very young age. There was never any
doubt they would be as good as they are. The females are simply
exceptional. We calved out his first daughters this spring, and they
are sure the right kind. So deep, so thick, and really easy fleshing
with nice tidy udders and lots of milk.
South Seven Northern is a bull Transcon Livestock purchased for us
out of the Camrose Bull Sale in 2004. Northern is a really long bodied,
thick, powerful, dark red herd bull. Northern certainly redefines easy
doing. It is definitely a good thing for the Simmental industry when
you have a herd bull you have to keep on a diet so he doesn’t get
too fat. His daughters are making exceptional females, long, thick,
deep bodied, heavy milking with absolutely beautiful udders. These
Northern daughters are going to establish themselves as some of
the most powerful cows in the Simmental industry. The only way to
establish Northern’s influence in your herd is through his sons. We
will not be selling many Northern females.
- Golddust raised our high selling bull in our 5th Annual Sale.
- We purchased Gladiator late in the breeding season so his calves are younger, look
- Mother is a Full Fleck dark red, goggle eyed Rovinik daughter that goes back to a full sister to
- 201X is a full Fleck Gladiator calf that is a little younger than most of the bulls. He is dark, dark red
with a big blaze on his face. He is thick enough considering his age.
- These Gladiator bulls should be really easy doing and easy calving, and the females sure look like
they are going to be the right kind.
Open Heifer Offering
Our 2010 heifer calves were the strongest set of heifers ever born on Kopp Farms. The consistency of the whole heifer crop was very rewarding
and the selection of the sale heifers was to say the least, a chore. We selected a cross section of a few Fullbloods, a few blacks, and the
majority being reds. I would have loved to have had a group of heifers this quality 10 or 15 years ago, when I seriously started to build this herd.
I would have thought I died and went to cow heaven... There isn’t a heifer in this group that I wouldn’t love to put in our herd, but we can’t keep
them all, so take advantage. You are buying from an elite group of heifers.
There are some advantages to buying open heifers at this time of year. You will be paying 50 to 60 cents on the dollar by buying these open
heifers, instead of waiting till fall and buying them as breds, especially if the market keeps going up. Another advantage is you can breed these
heifers to the bull of your choosing and breed them to calve within your own time frame to fit your own calving season. These are just a few
advantages to buying open heifers. You can buy our heifers with confidence knowing they have been bred, fed and selected to make money
for our customers.
