Hornady Lock-N-Load Precision Gauges
Two Gauge models fit all action types (except Winchester. 94).
Lock-N-Load O.A.L. Gauges - Small changes in the clearance between the bullet and
the rifling can make a big difference in accuracy. Most often, seating bullets close to
the rifling will produce improved accuracy. FINALLY!!! - Here is the solution to proper
bullet seating depth for precision handloaders. The O.A.L. (over-all-length) Gauge produces
an accurate model of your chamber with the bullet in light contact with the lands
of the rifling. The result is then measured with your caliper, allowing easy transfer of
this critical dimension to the bullet seating die. This allows you to precisely regulate the
bullet's clearance (free-travel) to the lands: typically .020 to .040" for hunting rounds.
The O.A.L. Gauge works with any bullet you choose. Eliminates guess work. Monitors
throat erosion. No other method "measures up" to the reliability and precision of this
easy to use tool. Modified case (required, see below) permits Gauge use with any
chamber.
