9.1 General Description
The purpose of the Electric Gas Booster is to take the exhaust gas from the
Reprocessing Unit at pressures, which vary according to dive depth and compress it to
the appropriate supply pressure for that depth. Details of inlet and outlet pressure etc.
can be found in the table below.

It can be seen from the table that the compression ratio of the plant falls as dive depth
increases, therefore below a depth of 150 msw the first stage is no longer required and
must be manually bypassed. Pressure switches ensure that the booster shuts down if
this is not done.
