1.1.4 The system has several levels of safety back-up, which will be described later. A<br />
conventional dem<strong>and</strong> system is used <strong>and</strong>, by means of a single action, open or closed circuit<br />
operation may be selected. Similarly, the conventional emergency bail-out system is available.<br />
1.1.5 Divex make no recommendation about acceptable ppO2 <strong>and</strong> ppCO2 of breathing gas.<br />
This is the responsibility of the user. The %O2 in the system must never exceed 21%.<br />
1.2 Layout <strong>and</strong> Operation of Equipment<br />
The diagram below illustrates the main components of the system. Exhaled gas is recovered from the<br />
divers by means of Reclaim Valves, mounted on helmets. The exhaustumbilicals are connected via<br />
SAECO valves (supply actuated exhaust cut-off valves) situated in the bell. Gas then passes via a water<br />
trap into a back pressure regulator, which controls the pressure in the exhaust umbilical. The bellman<br />
can monitor this pressure on a gauge situated in the bell. Gas is then passed to the surface via a<br />
non-return valve <strong>and</strong> a second water trap.<br />
