Before that moment arrives, there<br />
are many Senior Activities planned<br />
for you to enhance the end of your<br />
high school experience. You are<br />
encouraged to participate in as<br />
many of these events as possible.<br />
This graduation booklet is designed<br />
to assist you in planning for all the<br />
end-of-the-year activities. Please<br />
read it carefully, and refer to it as<br />
needed.<br />
I hope that you will participate in<br />
and enjoy all of the Senior Activities<br />

STANDARDS<br />
OF CONDUCT<br />
<strong>School</strong> rules and regulations are<br />
expected to be followed at all<br />
West Ranch <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />
activities. A student possessing<br />
any controlled substance or being<br />
under the influence at any senior<br />
event will be suspended from<br />
school and may be excluded from<br />
subsequent activities, including<br />
the graduation ceremony.<br />
Appropriate behavior and regular<br />
school attendance is expected in<br />
order to be eligible for all senior<br />
activities.<br />

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS<br />
May 4th - May 15th, Before school, brunch<br />
& lunch, ASB Office, Mrs. Whitney<br />
Seniors with financial obligations will not be<br />
allowed to purchase tickets to any senior events<br />
until all delinquencies are paid. This includes<br />
possible fines for parking, textbooks, and/or<br />
other items that are property of West Ranch<br />
<strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>. Caps and gowns will not be<br />
distributed to seniors with outstanding debt.<br />
Please make sure your senior checks with the<br />
Library and ASB Office to meet their financial<br />
responsibilities. If you have any questions,<br />
please contact Fran Whitney in the ASB Office<br />
at (661) 222-1220 ext. 561 or Janis Fiock in<br />
the Library at ext. 131.<br />
TEXTBOOK & LIBRARY CLEARANCE<br />
May 21st - May 28th, Before school, brunch<br />
& lunch, Library/Textbook Center<br />
Students who have cleared their library and<br />
textbook obligations will receive 10 graduation<br />
tickets at graduation practice on May 29th.<br />
FINAL EXAMS<br />
May 18th - May 22nd<br />
As West Ranch’s graduation will occur before<br />
the first day of finals, all seniors will have to<br />
complete all finals by May 23rd. Teachers will<br />
inform all seniors of their individual final exam<br />
in advance. Counselors will perform a final<br />
credit check to insure seniors have met<br />
graduation requirements. Counselors will<br />

notify parents if their senior is in danger of<br />
failing any classes that affect their graduation<br />
status. Parents of seniors who are deficient in<br />
graduation requirements or credits will be<br />
notified by May 22nd. The counselor will<br />
provide information regarding summer school<br />
opportunities. Diplomas will be issued at the<br />
end of summer school to any senior<br />
completing late graduation requirements.<br />
TRANSCRIPTS<br />
Seniors needing final official transcripts for any<br />
college or university should submit a written<br />
request with the Registrar before graduation.<br />
This includes students who will be attending<br />
College of the Canyons in the fall. Final<br />
Transcript Request Cards are available in the<br />
Registrar’s Office. Be sure to fill out the<br />
request card marked “FINAL” to prevent the<br />
college or university from receiving an<br />
incomplete transcript. You must include the<br />
complete mailing address of the college or<br />
university if the transcript is to be mailed.<br />
Official transcripts will not be mailed to a<br />
home address.<br />
Final Transcripts will be mailed or may be<br />
picked up mid-June, after final grades are<br />
posted.<br />
SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT<br />
May 21st, 7:00 p.m.<br />
Gymnasium<br />
Seniors and their families will be recognized<br />
for academic excellence, receipt of college<br />
scholarships and various other achievements.<br />
Outside agencies, universities, military and<br />
faculty will be on hand to make presentations.<br />
The dress code is collared shirts for boys and<br />
dresses for girls, no denim. All seniors<br />
receiving awards will be given a personal<br />
invitation for them and their families to<br />
attend.<br />

Seniors will meet in the main<br />
gym to receive instructions<br />
regarding their assigned seating<br />
for graduation. Seating<br />
assignments will be posted, and<br />
details about graduation practice<br />
will be discussed.<br />
CAP & GOWN<br />
ISSUANCE<br />
May 26th, Gymnasium<br />
Graduating seniors will receive<br />
their caps and gowns for<br />
graduation at the senior<br />
meeting. Please make every<br />
effort to have your gown neatly<br />
pressed before it is worn at<br />
graduation. Seniors who have<br />
not ordered a cap and gown<br />
should be prepared to pay<br />
$50.00 CASH at the time of cap<br />
and gown issuance.<br />
PANORAMA PICTURE<br />
May 26th, Gymnasium<br />
Immediately following the<br />
distribution of caps and gowns,<br />
graduating seniors will pose for<br />
an 11” x 30” color panorama<br />
picture. The photo is free to<br />
senior V.I.P. holders, and $20.00<br />
CASH for others. Payment<br />
must be made to the ASB Office<br />
by May 22nd. Pictures will be<br />
available for pick-up, Friday,<br />
May 29th. They will not be<br />
mailed home.<br />
SENIOR YEARBOOK<br />
PARTY<br />
May 26th, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.<br />
Small Gymnasium<br />
This is the opportunity for<br />
seniors to pick up their yearbooks<br />
before everyone else! A<br />
photo ID is required for<br />
yearbook pick-up. A limited<br />
quantity of books will be<br />
available for purchase at $95.00<br />
CASH. Remaining books may<br />
be picked up in the 400<br />
Building Foyer, dates and times<br />
will be announced. <strong>School</strong> staff<br />
will not be available during the<br />
summer for yearbook distribution.<br />
Any unclaimed yearbooks<br />
may be picked up in August<br />
<strong>2009</strong>.<br />
SENIOR GRADES<br />
All requirements must be met<br />
before West Ranch can certify a<br />
student for graduation. Seniors<br />
failing to meet graduation<br />
requirements cannot participate<br />
in the graduation ceremony.<br />
Any senior failing a required<br />
course may make it up in<br />
summer school which starts<br />
Monday, June 15th. The<br />
diploma awarded will be for July<br />
graduation after a counselor<br />
verifies that all requirements<br />
have been met. Summer school<br />
applications are available in the<br />

Senior Celebration <strong>2009</strong><br />
May 28th, <strong>2009</strong><br />
7:00 p.m. - Midnight<br />
The Senior Celebration includes a harbor cruise,<br />
dinner, dancing, casino games and more. Senior<br />
Celebration is open to the West Ranch graduating<br />
class of <strong>2009</strong>. No guests, please!<br />
Transportation to the Senior Celebration will be<br />
by charter bus only. Students will check into the<br />
WR <strong>School</strong> Cafeteria Foyer no later than 7:00 pm<br />
and will return between midnight and 1:00 am.<br />
This event is free to Senior V.I.P. Package Holders<br />
and $145.00 to all others. Tickets may be<br />
purchased in the ASB Office May 11th through<br />
May 18th, CASH only.<br />
GRADUATION PRACTICE<br />
May 29th, 8:30 a.m.<br />
College of the Canyons Stadium<br />
Participation in the graduation<br />
practice is mandatory in order to<br />
participate in the actual<br />
graduation ceremony. Students<br />
should arrive at the COC<br />
Stadium by 8:30 a.m. and<br />
proceed directly to the chairs on<br />
the field. Please sit in your<br />
assigned seat.<br />
Formal Court <strong>2009</strong><br />
GRADUATION TICKETS<br />
Tickets for the ceremony will be<br />
distributed at graduation practice<br />
to all seniors who have paid all<br />
financial obligations. Each<br />
graduate will be allotted ten<br />
tickets. Extra tickets will be<br />
available at the end of graduation<br />
practice.<br />

Expectations of Graduation Participants<br />
Graduation is an important and<br />
dignified ceremony, which has<br />
significant meaning for the<br />
graduating seniors, parents,<br />
families, and West Ranch<br />
<strong>School</strong> staff. The ceremony<br />
signifies the successful<br />
culmination of thirteen years of<br />
education. In order to ensure a<br />
graduation ceremony that is<br />
meaningful to all, the following<br />
is expected of all participants:<br />
Graduates are to be courteous<br />
during the entire ceremony and<br />
are to refrain from any activity<br />
that is disruptive, distracting, or<br />
dangerous. Please follow<br />
directions.<br />

not be allowed to carry presents,<br />
flowers or cameras during the<br />
ceremony. Graduates are not to<br />
decorate their cap or gown with<br />

financial obligations must do so<br />
before a diploma will be<br />
