You’re almost there! Can you
believe it Four of the most
important and formative years of
your life will soon culminate with
that special moment of receiving a
diploma at Graduation.
Before that moment arrives, there
are many Senior Activities planned
for you to enhance the end of your
high school experience. You are
encouraged to participate in as
many of these events as possible.
This graduation booklet is designed
to assist you in planning for all the
end-of-the-year activities. Please
read it carefully, and refer to it as
needed.
I hope that you will participate in
and enjoy all of the Senior Activities
that have been planned for you.

STANDARDS
OF CONDUCT
School rules and regulations are
expected to be followed at all
West Ranch High School
activities. A student possessing
any controlled substance or being
under the influence at any senior
event will be suspended from
school and may be excluded from
subsequent activities, including
the graduation ceremony.
Appropriate behavior and regular
school attendance is expected in
order to be eligible for all senior
activities.

charms, keys, etc will be
distributed in April. Any
announcements that have been
ordered will be available for pick
up in the ASB Office.

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS
May 4th - May 15th, Before school, brunch
& lunch, ASB Office, Mrs. Whitney
Seniors with financial obligations will not be
allowed to purchase tickets to any senior events
until all delinquencies are paid. This includes
possible fines for parking, textbooks, and/or
other items that are property of West Ranch
High School. Caps and gowns will not be
distributed to seniors with outstanding debt.
Please make sure your senior checks with the
Library and ASB Office to meet their financial
responsibilities. If you have any questions,
please contact Fran Whitney in the ASB Office
at (661) 222-1220 ext. 561 or Janis Fiock in
the Library at ext. 131.
TEXTBOOK & LIBRARY CLEARANCE
May 21st - May 28th, Before school, brunch
& lunch, Library/Textbook Center
Students who have cleared their library and
textbook obligations will receive 10 graduation
tickets at graduation practice on May 29th.
FINAL EXAMS
May 18th - May 22nd
As West Ranch’s graduation will occur before
the first day of finals, all seniors will have to
complete all finals by May 23rd. Teachers will
inform all seniors of their individual final exam
in advance. Counselors will perform a final
credit check to insure seniors have met
graduation requirements. Counselors will

notify parents if their senior is in danger of
failing any classes that affect their graduation
status. Parents of seniors who are deficient in
graduation requirements or credits will be
notified by May 22nd. The counselor will
provide information regarding summer school
opportunities. Diplomas will be issued at the
end of summer school to any senior
completing late graduation requirements.
TRANSCRIPTS
Seniors needing final official transcripts for any
college or university should submit a written
request with the Registrar before graduation.
This includes students who will be attending
College of the Canyons in the fall. Final
Transcript Request Cards are available in the
Registrar’s Office. Be sure to fill out the
request card marked “FINAL” to prevent the
college or university from receiving an
incomplete transcript. You must include the
complete mailing address of the college or
university if the transcript is to be mailed.
Official transcripts will not be mailed to a
home address.
Final Transcripts will be mailed or may be
picked up mid-June, after final grades are
posted.
SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT
May 21st, 7:00 p.m.
Gymnasium
Seniors and their families will be recognized
for academic excellence, receipt of college
scholarships and various other achievements.
Outside agencies, universities, military and
faculty will be on hand to make presentations.
The dress code is collared shirts for boys and
dresses for girls, no denim. All seniors
receiving awards will be given a personal
invitation for them and their families to
attend.

SENIOR MEETING
May 26th, 10:45 a.m.
Gymnasium
Seniors will meet in the main
gym to receive instructions
regarding their assigned seating
for graduation. Seating
assignments will be posted, and
details about graduation practice
will be discussed.
CAP & GOWN
ISSUANCE
May 26th, Gymnasium
Graduating seniors will receive
their caps and gowns for
graduation at the senior
meeting. Please make every
effort to have your gown neatly
pressed before it is worn at
graduation. Seniors who have
not ordered a cap and gown
should be prepared to pay
$50.00 CASH at the time of cap
and gown issuance.
PANORAMA PICTURE
May 26th, Gymnasium
Immediately following the
distribution of caps and gowns,
graduating seniors will pose for
an 11” x 30” color panorama
picture. The photo is free to
senior V.I.P. holders, and $20.00
CASH for others. Payment
must be made to the ASB Office
by May 22nd. Pictures will be
available for pick-up, Friday,
May 29th. They will not be
mailed home.
SENIOR YEARBOOK
PARTY
May 26th, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Small Gymnasium
This is the opportunity for
seniors to pick up their yearbooks
before everyone else! A
photo ID is required for
yearbook pick-up. A limited
quantity of books will be
available for purchase at $95.00
CASH. Remaining books may
be picked up in the 400
Building Foyer, dates and times
will be announced. School staff
will not be available during the
summer for yearbook distribution.
Any unclaimed yearbooks
may be picked up in August
2009.
SENIOR GRADES
All requirements must be met
before West Ranch can certify a
student for graduation. Seniors
failing to meet graduation
requirements cannot participate
in the graduation ceremony.
Any senior failing a required
course may make it up in
summer school which starts
Monday, June 15th. The
diploma awarded will be for July
graduation after a counselor
verifies that all requirements
have been met. Summer school
applications are available in the
Counseling Office.

Senior Celebration 2009
May 28th, 2009
7:00 p.m. - Midnight
The Senior Celebration includes a harbor cruise,
dinner, dancing, casino games and more. Senior
Celebration is open to the West Ranch graduating
class of 2009. No guests, please!
Transportation to the Senior Celebration will be
by charter bus only. Students will check into the
WR School Cafeteria Foyer no later than 7:00 pm
and will return between midnight and 1:00 am.
This event is free to Senior V.I.P. Package Holders
and $145.00 to all others. Tickets may be
purchased in the ASB Office May 11th through
May 18th, CASH only.
GRADUATION PRACTICE
May 29th, 8:30 a.m.
College of the Canyons Stadium
Participation in the graduation
practice is mandatory in order to
participate in the actual
graduation ceremony. Students
should arrive at the COC
Stadium by 8:30 a.m. and
proceed directly to the chairs on
the field. Please sit in your
assigned seat.

GRADUATION TICKETS
Tickets for the ceremony will be
distributed at graduation practice
to all seniors who have paid all
financial obligations. Each
graduate will be allotted ten
tickets. Extra tickets will be
available at the end of graduation
practice.

Expectations of Graduation Participants
Graduation is an important and
dignified ceremony, which has
significant meaning for the
graduating seniors, parents,
families, and West Ranch
School staff. The ceremony
signifies the successful
culmination of thirteen years of
education. In order to ensure a
graduation ceremony that is
meaningful to all, the following
is expected of all participants:
Graduates are to be courteous
during the entire ceremony and
are to refrain from any activity
that is disruptive, distracting, or
dangerous. Please follow
directions.
