L.H. Bowden Leadership Development Conference January 27, 2012 Renaissance Hotel, Baton Rouge Dr. Jeff Hooton, LDA president-elect, welcomed attendees and introduced the speakers from the ADA. Six members of the LSU School of Dentistry Class of 1984 were in attendance at the Bowden Conference. There have been an incredible number of LDA leaders to come from this class. Leaders present at this year’s Bowden were (from left) Dr. Dennis Preau, Dr. Steve Ortego, Dr. Eddie Hebert, Dr. Bill Hadlock, Dr. Jeff Hooton and Dr. Ike House. Leaders gathered in groups to discuss membership efforts and successes within their components. They were (from left) Dr. Lane Eddleman, Dr. Justin Tarver, Dr. Neil Oza, Dr. Michael Stacey, Dr. Steve Ortego and Dr. Gary Dewitt. Dr. Bill Hadlock (left) congratulated Dr. Jamie Manders on her incredible work for the LDA’s Dental Well-Being Advisory Committee, which led the LDA to be awarded one of 17 Golden Apples from the ADA for 2011. Even though the award in this category only goes to an association, in reality, this award belongs to Dr. Manders, as well as the various LDA members who have served on this committee in any capacity through the years.
