Our last camp! We were off to Melbourne for a couple
of days to learn about university. What is it like Is it like
high school What requirements do I need to get into my
course All these questions and many more were answered
as we travelled from uni to uni to explore all of the different
options.
On the first day we went to RMIT University where we were
given a presentation about RMIT, the courses they offer
and many general questions that are important. After lunch
the group split up and about 15 of us went to La Trobe
University and the rest went to Vic Uni. I was in the group
that went to La Trobe. After listening to a presentation,
we had a tour around the campus looking at things like
accommodation, the library, a TV studio and many more
facilities. We then travelled back to Melbourne Uni to listen
to a guest speaker “Sonya the Door Bitch” (yes, this is her
comedy routine name!) who talked to us about alcohol and
the effects it has on young people. It was quite insightful
and very interesting. After that we went for a walk down
Lygon Street; most of us buying ice creams. We then
travelled back to Melbourne Uni to sleep the night.
Yr 12’s
Last Camp
After a late night we were all up bright and early in the
morning to take the train to Monash University, Caulfield
campus. Their presentation was a bit more fun as we had
a quick quiz at the end of it, which my team won! We
had a wander around the campus before we had lunch
then headed back into the seminar room were we had an
informative question and answer session with three students
that currently study at Monash (Clayton)
After this we were on the train back to Drouin. Most of us
were very tired and just wanted to get home. Overall we
had an awesome time!
