As a feature of Cultural Diversity Week at
school, the Canteen will be celebrating with a
special menu when we return in Term 2.
Menu items and prices will be on
eWorkSpace each afternoon for the next
day’s menu as we travel the world.
Menu items that will be available include:
• Pork Rolls
• Savory Mollete
• Samosas
• Croissants
On a hot Friday afternoon in the middle
of the recent record breaking heatwave,
our Year 10 students all assembled in the
Stadium at Drouin Secondary College
to hear about how to start planning their
financial future.
This may sound very dry and an extreme
challenge for our Year 10’s under those
tough hot and “end of week” conditions, but
they all got enthusiastically involved in what
was a lively and entertaining presentation by
Zey, the Startsmart Secondary Facilitator. The
students started talking about their part time
jobs, their income and their future dreams.
So if your child comes home and starts
asking about getting their Tax File Number,
or mentions that they need to get a job so
they can afford to run their first car, you
shouldn’t be surprised. Take the opportunity
to share your experiences and support
their development as financially “smart”
young adults.
