Year 7 2014 Information
Day – a fabulous success
for the College
On Wednesday 1st May, we welcomed approximately
175 Grade Six students and accompanying teachers
from our local primary schools to Drouin Secondary
College for their Year 7 2014 Information Day Program.
The students and visiting staff enjoyed presentations by Mr
Wainwright, Mrs Allen, our College Captains and various
staff in the Auditorium before embarking on a college tour
which was conducted by current Year 7 students. The
students then experienced a range of subjects including
Science, Drama, Music, Moondah, LOTE, English and Art.
After lunch, the students spent a session either in the gym
playing a variety of sports, or some chose to have a swim in
our pool, even though the day was extremely cold and wet.
That same evening, we offered the Year 7 2014
Information Evening Program which was specifically
targeted at parents and families. This event was well
attended with approximately 120 visitors to the college
and included presentations, tours and information sessions
from faculty staff. The evening concluded with a fabulous
supper which was provided by our Parents and Friends
Committee in the Stadium.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the
people involved in making this event such a success. We
had over 45 staff involved in either running a student
session during the day or presenting an evening session
for the parents, as well as 40 Year 7 students who spent
the day with the primary school students. Special thanks
especially to the Canteen staff, the P&F Committee and
Maureen Hickman for all their assistance.
