Mr S Wainwright
Principal’s Report
Here we are over half way through our second term already
and moving towards the final report writing period and senior
exams in the next few weeks. I hope parents have taken the
opportunity to view student Progress Reports that were published last
week and have discussed their child’s progress with them. We now
are in the final quarter of Semester 1 units and final assessments for
each of these units. I would like to reinforce the commitment of the
College to work in partnership with parents to support all students’
progress. If as a parent you have a concern about your child’s
progress please take the time via phone or email to contact us and
discuss any concerns.
NAPLAN
All Year 7 students and Year 9 students completed NAPLAN testing
last week over three days in literacy and numeracy. I was impressed
by the efforts the Years 7 and 9 students put into these assessments
as well as their excellent behaviour through each test. The results are
normally published in August. These will be sent home to parents via
the College. The results also give the College valuable information
about individual student learning and progress.
Thank You and
Well Done
If members of our school community know excellent performances of
Drouin Secondary College students please send us this information so I
can acknowledge this in our College E-News.
Congratulations to:
• The VCAL students for their effort in supporting the Salvos and on
their recent participation in Melbourne’s Amazing Race. There is
some impressive work going on in this senior program.
• Shaun Griffin represented Australia in the World Floorball
Championships held in Germany earlier in May.
• Georgia Fisher has been selected in the Girls SSV Under 16
Victorian AFL team to play an interstate carnival in Darwin later in
the year.
• Jessica Monk has been continuing her rehearsals for the State
School Spectacular later in the year. She also performed at the
Education Excellence Awards last weekend. (There was a great
article in “The Gazette” this week).
• Well done and thank you to the College production team in their
ongoing rehearsals each week and their extra rehearsal all day
last Sunday. I look forward to seeing “Little Shop of Horrors” in
Term 3.
• Dandenong Train Station Master Mr Jude Matthews would like
to congratulate DSC student Alex Ionascu for the support and
reassurance he gave the two year 7 students that needed help.
