STUDENT LEADERSHIP SYNERGY
There was a buzz in the room; an atmosphere of quite excitement.
Groups of students were standing in circles chatting and eating
breakfast.
This occasion was the first Synergy Leadership Breakfast for 2013.
Drouin’s College Captains joined student leaders from Warragul
Regional College, Trafalgar High School, Neerim & District Secondary
College, St Paul’s Anglican Grammar, Marist Sion Catholic College
and Chairo Christian School who generously hosted the event,
providing a delicious breakfast and warm hospitality.
Students from each school spoke about their goals as leaders and the
challenges they faced in their roles. It was very interesting to hear the
different approaches each team were taking and the various ways
they were working within their schools.
Drouin Secondary College Captains, Kylie DiCarlo, Nick Derrick and
Harry Hearn, spoke about their work with the SRC, their leadership of
Assemblies and the Environmental Team. As the speakers presented it
was obvious they have much in common in their experiences.
The guest speaker was a young man who had been in a similar role
in Year 12 last year. His message was that one major challenge for
student leaders is keeping a balance between study and leadership
while still enjoying their interests and passions.
We look forward to the next Synergy Breakfast which will be hosted
by the Baw Baw Shire in August.
Invitation to all Year 11 Students
The University of Melbourne would like to extend an invitation to all
Year 11 students from rural and border regions of Victoria to attend
our UniExperience event on Thursday 11th and Friday, 12th July.
UniExperience gives students a chance to visit our campus and
experience university life first hand, staying overnight at a residential
college and participating in a range of exciting activities with university
staff and students.
Information flyers are in the Careers office and we hope that any Year
11 students who may be interested in studying at the University of
Melbourne in the future come and collect one. Summary information
for the event, and registration details are contained in the flyer, but
