Swiss Championship 2004
Franz Bürgi writes: “The Finn Swiss
Championship 2004 was hosted by the
German sailing club ‘Jollensegler Reichenau’
on the beautiful Reichenau Island in Lake
Constance. The 66 competitors from 6
countries experienced the best a national
championship can offer – 7 races in perfect
conditions and incredible hospitality from the
organising club.
but could not recover from two bad races early
in the series. Jürgen Eiermann showed great
speed, fine tactics and secured the title in fine
style. Third of the dominating trio was Christoph
Christen who also sailed a very consistent
championship.
The organising club with its very active
promoter for this event, Andreas Bollongino,
put up an incredible program both on shore
and on the water. Perfectly set starting lines
and marks and of course the excellent wind
conditions (force 2-6) on one side, and an
absolutely impressive social program on shore
made this event clearly unforgettable. Thank
you Jollensegler Reichenau!”
From the very beginning Jürgen Eiermann
showed his determination to win this
championship. After a tie at the German
Championship (2nd with equal points) just
hours before the start of the Swiss
Championship, this time nobody was going
to stop him with his perfect score of
1,1,3,2,3,1,2. Peter Theurer stayed in touch
