MISSION<br />

The BA program in Psychology provides students<br />

with a broad based knowledge in the field of<br />

Psychology along with opportunities to explore their<br />

professional potential in a university committed<br />

to <strong>academic</strong> excellence, scholarship, and to the<br />

education of students as future leaders in the local<br />

and international sphere. Students will be provided<br />

with a foundational grounding in scientific psychology<br />

in diverse subfields, with some emphasis in the fields<br />

of Development and Counseling.<br />

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES<br />

The general objectives of the program are in line<br />

with the <strong>American</strong> Psychological Association’s<br />

guidelines for undergraduate psychology Majors.<br />

Students in the program are expected to:<br />

1. Acquire a knowledge base in Psychology<br />

2. Equip students with data research analysis<br />

skills.<br />

3. Develop skills in critical and creative<br />

thinking, skeptical inquiry, all of which<br />

require tolerance for ambiguity.<br />

4. Apply psychological principles across<br />

cultural and sub-cultural contexts.<br />

5. Weigh evidence, suspend judgment, act<br />

ethically, and reflect upon and evaluate the<br />

values underlying psychology.<br />

6. Demonstrate competence in using<br />

computers and information technology for<br />

psychology purposes.<br />
