MINOR IN BIOLOGY<br />

Nowadays, knowledge of biology is highly<br />

attractive as an adjunct to many other majors<br />

and professional fields. Combining biology<br />

with other area gives a valuable expertise in<br />

cross-disciplinary areas and makes <strong>academic</strong><br />

preparation more distinctive. Pursuing a biology<br />

minor program help introducing students to core<br />

concepts in biological areas and at the same<br />

time complement premedical requirements for<br />

students interested in medicine and gives a solid<br />

background for those concerned in other health<br />

science fields as well as those who wish to pursue<br />

careers in the chemical and biochemical industry.<br />

With a comprehensive, well-rounded education,<br />

student may attain a wider and deeper knowledge<br />

and become more competitive in the job market.<br />

MISSION<br />

The mission of the Biology Minor is to offer<br />

a general but coherent program, providing<br />

students with basic knowledge in different fields<br />

of Biology.<br />

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES<br />

The purpose of the Minor in Biology:<br />

1. To provide students with basic general<br />

information in Biology through lecture and<br />

laboratory courses.<br />

2. To prepare students interested in pursuing<br />

further education in health-related fields<br />

such as Medicine, medicinal chemistry,<br />

nutrition, public health and medical<br />

laboratory.<br />

3. To offer students with wider scope of job<br />

opportunities.<br />

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES<br />

Students with a Minor in Biology will:<br />

1. Show acquisition of basic knowledge of<br />

biological sciences.<br />

2. Demonstrate adequate experience in lab<br />

and basic research techniques.<br />

3. Demonstrate problem-solving abilities in<br />

biological science.<br />

4. Acquire adequate preparation for careers<br />

in biological sciences or entrance into<br />

professional studies.<br />
