MASTERS OF ARTS IN EDUCATION<br />
The educational sector in Lebanon has undergone<br />
major changes since the inception of the new<br />
curriculum. These changes have raised the debate<br />
about the purpose and quality of education,<br />
overhauled the delivery modes and practices in<br />
the field, and created new positions in educational<br />
settings (school counselors, special educators,<br />
technology teachers, etc.). The need for qualified<br />
professionals has become greater than ever.<br />
MISSION<br />
The Mission of the M.A. Program in Education is to<br />
respond to the educational change, and to fulfill<br />
the needs created by educational reforms. The<br />
Program prepare qualified professionals in the<br />
field of Education who can assume leadership<br />
positions in schools, and educational institutions,<br />
as well as promote change and innovations, guide<br />
and mentor teachers, and develop their knowledge<br />
and skills in a life-long learning process.<br />

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES<br />
The M.A. Program in Education provides<br />
knowledge, practical training, and continuous<br />
updating, on technological developments, and<br />
challenging opportunities, for those interested<br />
in working in school settings, educational<br />
institutions, community centers, educational<br />
research, and development.<br />
The Program’s various specialty areas provide<br />
students with the opportunity to become qualified<br />
subject coordinators, supervisors, officers for teacher<br />
professional development, curriculum specialists,<br />
school administrators, or school counselors.<br />
LEARNING OUTCOMES<br />
As a result of their work in the Program, students<br />
will be able to:<br />
1. Identify major political, social, psychological,<br />
and philosophical foundations of education<br />
and curricula.<br />
2. Recognize, compare, and contrast, major<br />
instructional theories and approaches.<br />
3. Evaluate/develop curricula, and curriculum<br />
materials, for specific content, or for special<br />
groups of students.<br />
4. Use technology efficiently in performing<br />
instructional, and educational, tasks and<br />
promote its informed use.<br />
5. Set and implement plans for educational<br />
professional development.<br />
6. Design, conduct, and evaluate, educational<br />
research.<br />
7. Reflect on research results, and evaluate<br />
their implications on educational practices.<br />
CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS<br />
A student may choose one of two tracks: General<br />
Professional Development, or a Specialist Area.<br />
In total, students have to accumulate 30 credits<br />
at the Master’s level. The Program comprises<br />
four blocks:<br />
