SUPPOTING FACILITIES
Early Childhood Education Laboratory School
(ECE LS)
LAU’s ECE LS is a modern-day regular preschool
that caters to children between 2.5/3-5 years
of age. It adopts an integrated holistic childcentered
approach to child’s learning and
development. The preschool is fully equipped
with a lab setting consisting of 2 observation
booths overlooking the 2 classrooms, with onesided
mirrors, video cameras, sound systems,
dimmer lights, and computers, all connected
to the classrooms to allow for uninterrupted
observations for parents, students, visiting
teachers, faculty, and staff.
The role of the Lab School is twofold: 1. To
provide quality care for the children, in a caring,
nurturing and child-centered environment,
both in its physical set-up and teachers and
staff; and 2. From an academic perspective,
the Lab School welcomes a multidisciplinary
approach: while its primary purpose is to
serve as a professional learning platform
for students majoring in Early Childhood
Education, students majoring in education,
psychology, music, drama, nursing, among
others can also benefit from its existence.
Another important aspect of the Lab School
is the rich environment it creates for early
childhood research in both development
and education. Through this, it encourages
the community to be more involved as well
as collaborative research between faculties
within the academic milieu, locally, regionally
and internationally.
