Ideal for measuring consumption in private homes
Just one single screw tightened on each
terminal is all it takes to install Kamstrup
162. The discreet design and compact size
means that the meter can be installed even
in an entrance hall. Accumulated electric
energy is easily read on the display - also
for weak-sighted people - thanks to the
clear digits. Kamstrup 162 measures the
power consumption via shunt. This is one
of the most essential reasons for the
meter's good measuring characteristics.
The meter's construction provides good
accuracy and a very low internal consumption
- costs of great importance to the
utility.
The meter is furnished with elevating
terminals and the lower part of the terminal
wraps around the cable. This terminal type,
which is also used e.g. in a circuit breaker,
provides a large and solid contact area.
Energy conscious consumers
Various functions makes the individual
household more conscious about its
power consumption.
The kWh control registers the consumption
over a period of time to enable the consumers
to check how much they have saved
by using low-energy bulbs.
It is also possible to register the power
consumption of one single appliance and
thereby also how much power the TV uses
in stand-by mode.
If the consumer doubts a bill, the log function
is a useful tool to clear up the consumption
pattern and explain deviations.
The log registers monthly values for up to
36 months. If the current fails, the meter
back-up stores the consumption data until
the current is re-established.
Caring for the environment
After faithful service Kamstrup 162 can be
disposed of in an inexpensive way, as it is
easy to separate and most parts can be
recycled.

Automatic meter reading – Ellipse.net
To meet the demands on frequent readings it is necessary to automatize the reading
process. All Kamstrup meters offers space for a communication module. The module can
be fitted at the factory, or it can be retrofitted to upgrade existing meters – without
reverification.
Which reading system you need depends on the geography, the area, building density etc.
