\Application materials\<br />

1. Application Form for International Scholars with a<br />

photograph fixed, which is available at www.oir.pku.edu.cn<br />

2. Certification of highest degree attained, and official certificate<br />

of employment (original documents or certified copies in<br />

Chinese or English)<br />

3. Two letters from your referees. At least one of your referees<br />

should have knowledge of your recent academic work and<br />

should indicate the standard attained wherever possible.<br />

4. Research proposal (no less than 1000 words, in Chinese or<br />

English)<br />

5. One photocopy of your valid passport (passport type must be<br />

ordinary)<br />

3,320 RMB/Month<br />

\Medical Insurance\<br />

Peking University’s regulations require that all international<br />

students must be medically insured throughout their entire<br />

planned period of study. How to subscribe the medical insurance,<br />

please refer to the Letter of Admission. Students who do not have<br />

valid medical insurance are not allowed to register.<br />

\Application fee\<br />

400RMB in cash or Yinlian bank card. Foreign currency or check is<br />

not acceptable. This fee is not refundable.<br />

Note: Applications with incomplete materials or without the application<br />

fee will not be considered.<br />

There are different types of housing facilities for international<br />

students at PKU.<br />

\Admission\<br />

Admission will be determined by your proposed colleges or<br />

departments according to your academic achievements. Normally it<br />

takes 4 to 8 weeks to get the Letter of Admission after the application<br />

submitted. Most successful candidates have established prior contacts<br />

with the professors in their particular fields, anyone wishing to come<br />

for a Research Scholars is strongly advised to find a supervisor in<br />

advance.<br />

Self-funded Students are required to find their own living<br />

accommodation. Please note that students who live off campus<br />

must register to the local police station within 24 hours.<br />

\Visa information\<br />

Students admitted to PKU may apply for your visa at the Chinese<br />

Embassy/Consulate in your country with your letter of admission<br />

and JW202 form. International students who will study in China<br />

for over 6 months are required to obtain ‘X’ Visa, which will only<br />

be valid for 30 days after your arrival in China. You must come<br />

to the International Students Division and apply for a Residence<br />

Permit within these 30 days in order to obtain a legal status in<br />

China. Study period within 6 months can apply for F visa.<br />
