Masse Farm, Craftsbury. 47,500 award for
acquisition of conservation easements, associated
costs and stewardship of 66-acre goat
dairy farm and custom poultry processing
operation. 27,000 NRCS grant. Total project
cost: 74,500.
D&C Montagne II Farm, St. Albans.
201,400 award for acquisition of conservation
easements, associated costs and stewardship
of 275-acre home dairy farm. Adds
to a block of conserved farmland. 311,000
NRCS grant. Total project cost: 647,900.
Mt. Anthony Preservation Society Trailhead,
Bennington. 168,000 award for acquisition,
associated costs and stewardship of 32-acre
parcel to provide public access to hundreds
of acres of other conserved, forested recreation
lands on Mt. Anthony. Total project
cost: 282,570.
Quesnel Farm, Salisbury. 291,000 award
for acquisition of conservation easements,
associated costs and stewardship of 590- acre
dairy with Otter Creek frontage and archeological
sites. Includes an option to purchase
at agricultural value. 284,500 NRCS grant.
Total project cost: 585,500.
Rowe Farm, Cornwall. 203,335 award for
acquisition of conservation easements, associated
costs and stewardship of 153-acre beef
and dairy heifer operation allowing for an
intergenerational transfer. 183,000 NRCS
grant. Total project cost: 392,000.
Russell Family Trust Property, Hinesburg.
144,364 local conservation award for acquisition
of conservation easements, associated
costs and stewardship of a 63-acre parcel.
Sugaring operation and continued access to
a network of existing trails near the village
center. Total project cost: 225,864.
Wood Notch Farmland (Jackson Orchards),
Shoreham. 118,900 award for acquisition
of conservation easements, associated costs
and stewardship of 243 acres of cropland for
nearby Wood Notch dairy. Includes public
access trail easement on old railroad bed
and special treatment area for rare clayplain
forest. Includes an option to purchase at agricultural
value. 98,000 NRCS grant. Total
project cost: 216,900.
Woods Farm, Richford and Berkshire.
182,850 award for acquisition of conservation
easements, associated costs and
stewardship of 244-acre dairy, with flower
and vegetable operation and farmstand; extensive
Missisquoi River frontage. Includes
an option to purchase at agricultural value.
161,500 NRCS grant. Total project cost:
407,600.
Vermont River Conservancy
Terrill Gorge/Kenfield Brook, Morristown.
132,000 award for acquisition of 10 acres
and associated costs to provide public access
to Kenfield Brook and the state significant
Terrill Gorge swimming hole. Property
transferred to Vermont Agency of Natural
Resources Department of Fish and Wildlife.
