fast This hands-on course covers the basics of the
personal computer system at a leisurely pace and
shows you what your basic PC consists of. Learn
about the inside of your PC and know the key components
necessary when purchasing your next computer
system. Learn how to set up and connect your
new computer including your best choices for hardware
as well as software. No prior computer experience
is required.

Now that you have mastered the basics of the personal
computer, find out about the operating system behind
the scenes: Microsoft Windows XP on the PC. This
hands-on, leisurely course focuses on navigating the
Windows environment, including file folder and disk
management, exploring the desktop and icons, using
toolbars, and simplifying work by using shortcuts and
searches. This course is for individuals with little or
no knowledge of Windows.

This hands-on, leisurely course provides an introduction
to Microsoft’s word-processing program. It covers
important Microsoft Word fundamentals, including
creating a document and saving it, using toolbars
and the ruler bar, and moving around within a document.
Formatting (font, alignment, etc.) and page
setup (margins, orientation) are also covered, along
with cut/copy/paste, AutoCorrect, find/replace and
spell check. Students should be familiar with the
Windows environment.

Although the Internet can be intimidating, this slowpaced
course is geared specifically toward PC users,
showing you how much fun the Internet can be.
Learn the basics of the Internet and get hands-on
experience surfing the Web and learning how to perform
online searches. Participants should have some
basic computer knowledge. No classes the week of
March 19-23.

learning about e-mail and how to set up a free e-mail
account. Learn how to send, receive, forward and
reply to your e-mail, as well as download and save
your favorite photos or file attachments. Students
