computer, find out about the operating system behind
the scenes: Microsoft Windows XP on the PC. This
hands-on, leisurely course focuses on navigating the
Windows environment, including file folder and disk
management, exploring the desktop and icons, using
toolbars, and simplifying work by using shortcuts and
searches. This course is for individuals with little or
no knowledge of Windows.

This hands-on, leisurely course provides an introduction
to Microsoft’s word-processing program. It covers
important Microsoft Word fundamentals, including
creating a document and saving it, using toolbars and
the ruler bar, and moving around within a document.
Formatting (font, alignment, etc.) and page setup
(margins, orientation) are also covered, along with
cut/copy/paste, AutoCorrect, find/replace and spell
check. Students should be familiar with the Windows
environment.

course is geared specifically toward PC users,
showing you how much fun the Internet can be.

This class surveys the choices we make and how to
incorporate sustainable practices into our lives realistically.
Living sustainably is the harvesting of renewable
resources in our environment for our needs. The
first class is an overview of sustainable systems and
practices. The following week includes group exercises
and individual coaching to craft a specific and personal
vision of sustainability.

Reports on global climate change, ozone depletion
and air quality can leave you with more questions
than answers. Sound bites can be tiring. In this
series, students learn what is really happening and
what the current science says about global warming.
Environmental problems such as the ozone hole and
urban air quality and their environmental, economic
and societal implications are examined. The course
draws upon data from satellite measurements, recent
research studies, and computer models of the climate
and composition of the atmosphere. Students should
have a scientific curiosity; an open mind for interpretation
and discussion of data; and the ability to read
charts, graphs and maps. The series includes:
